Well I have been on 6mp for 4.5 months now. I can say that in general I feel better than I did 5 months ago. I know the rule is 3 months before it even begins to have an affect on your crohns and 6 months before relief. I honestly believe that I am headed in that direction although I can feel my disease putting up a fight...Definitley not trying to go down easy if you know what I mean.

Overall I really do not feel any side affects from the drug. A little fatigue but dont know if thats the 6 mp or just the day to day stress's of life or the Crohns??? One never can really tell. I do have slight nausea sometimes and I get bad headaches more often than usual. Other than that I think I am managing well.

I do know that the Crohns has taken a definite hit from the 6 mp...and that is promising.

I'm really happy that you are feeling better, my doctor wanted to start me on 6mp but I was worrried about the side effects...I guess I will give it some more thought.good luck.

I've been on 50 mg daily of 6MP for four years now. I still feel crappy most of the time, but the stricture that I was building has disappeared, so that's a real gift. I have occasional nausea and headaches, but it's hard to determine whether those are CD symptoms or 6MP symptoms. No other noticeable side effects--and I have bloodwork every 3 months that tells me that my liver is doing fine. For me, this drug has been very helpful.

I'm glad to hear you guys are having good results with the 6mp. I started Azasan (6mp, Imuran, etc.) on Feb 20th, and am anxiously awaiting a response from it. My GI says that almost all of the Crohn's cases he sees that respond well to prednisone (like mine. Pred puts my CD in remission, and my head through the ceiling) also respond equally well to Imuran. He says you get all of the prednisone anti-inflammatory effects, with far fewer side effects. Sure hope that's the case, cause the Humira hasn't done much more than just make me really tired so far, and I *really* want to get off the pred.

Hi I am glad you are feeling better. I have been on Imuran for almost 5 years and Remicade which have me in remission.

Teddybearweiser, that's great to hear! I'm hoping that my (similar) Humira and Imuran combo will be as effective.

Hello All,

I have been on 6 mp for a year and a half. At 50 mg I had improvement but I still wasn't in great shape.  I have been at 75 mg for 6 months and after a long two years since diagnosis and surgery, my GI declared that I am in remission.  I love this drug.  I feel well and I would say the only "side effect" I feel is at this dosage I am way more seceptible to illnesses.  I got a flu shot in November, both of my kids got sick over Christmas break with the flu, I got it and then spent the last 3 months recovering from nuemonia, so I have to be extra careful to take care of myself and stay away from sick people.  I hope it is successful for you as well.
