fatigue...hard time remembering stuff anyone...

hey, just wondering if anyone else has a hard time concentrating or remembering stuff. I always second guess myself and find that I forget things....I know crohns makes you tired, but the only meds I'm on are pentasa, entocort and my iron....I think my brain is sleeping

I'm like that too, I guess this DD even effects our memory, too bad we don't forget we have to go to the can all the time eh!!

I'm not even on meds, just naturals and only 40 and have memory issues though.

My memory is terrible....and concentration even worse. I used to be able to sit and read for hours....now I read 2 or 3 pages and I'm dozing off...not because the book isn't interesting....and then I often have to re-read what I read to remind myself of where I left off. Alzheimers? It scares me to death.
On the other hand I can never repeat gossip, because I can never remember who the heck we were talking about or who did what to whom? a blessing in disguise.
A funny story about parking the car. My mom took the car to the bank the other day....went in to do her banking....dad happened to pass by on his daily walk....didn't like the way she had parked....so took the car home!!!!!!! mom came out of the bank .....no car! Boy they are still fighting about that one.... its typical mom and dad stuff though...cracks me up! LOL.

You have just lifted my spirits as my hubby has gotten awful about remembering things and he is not on meds.  He is just 60 and he can find his way home but his short term memory is awful.  I was beginning to be very concerned  and  the PCP just blew it off when I mentioned it but you have given me some insight here. 

I never put it together with the Crohn's.  Thanks you for this thread.

I just want to thank everyone so much for answering my question, I honestly feel like I am losing my mind... Sasha1, I know what you are going through I take care of my mom who has had strokes and is bedridden, and as of tomorrow my 84 year old dad will be comming home from the hospital he just had a stroke so I have to develope a system how to remember everyones meds.

You know, I honestly think it's the stress, the major mental stress which often doesn't get recognized by docs, that might be the huge impact regarding our memory issues...researchers should do a large study on IBDers and memory function, I'd bet that the majority would have issues with this more so than the minority who suffer with IBD. Only thing is, even with research confirming there's a link to IBD and memory disfunction I doubt there'd be anything they could really do to help us with it.

Btw, anxiety and stress can easily cause memory loss, inability to concentrate. 

True, low iron does cause low level memory and learning issues.

AHHHH..I am so frustrated due to the memory issues. My boyfriend bought me a digital camera for Christmas a year ago.  We have been doing remodeling on the house, and have been taking before/after pictures to watch our progress..not to mention a year's worth of pictures of us, the dogs, family, etc.  I have managed to LOSE my camera. I am so devastated because I can't "make up" those pictures again, and he saved up to buy it for me. How do you LOSE a stinking camera??????  I am so frustrated because I feel if I give up and buy another one, it will creep back from the hole it was in.  It's having to admit I am a dimwit,,,and I am hoping it will reappear 8(

This is a cruel disease, indeed. I too am extremely fatigued, all the time - and what frustrates me is that most people (dear hubby included) can't seem to understand what that means. You know, to be totally drained of energy.

Also, about the time I was having my worst flare ever...I also turned 30. And it seems like overnight my brain left the building...I kept blaming it on my turning 30 and have had enough people chuckle about that - so I am now thinking it must have to do with the CD. I forget everything! And I used to have a pretty darned good memory - but it's gone. In the evening, I can't remember what I did in the morning without thinking about for a while. Post it notes and lists could work, but I stick them in my purse and forget about them :)

Okay I am Definitely not alone! lol....There has to be a way to research this further.

At work I have 3 people who as part of their job remind me of meetings and appointments and deadlines for certain jobs I am supposed to do. Thankfully they all think its amusing that I need the reminders.
I have told everyone at work that I don't trust myself with original documents so please only give me copies.

Ok, so yesterday I somehow managed to spill a bunch of coffee directly onto myself or onto my desk and either did not notice it or managed to completely forget about it.  I was typing and I was suddenly like gee what's this with my sleeve being wet...did I somehow sweat so much it traveled to my elbow?  Hmm it's cold <sniff> hey that's....coffee?  When did I soak my entire top half of my sleeve in coffee?  I'm pretty sure I spilled it on myself and just forgot about it since sometimes I get up to go to the bathroom down the hall, and if it's not an urgent trip due to D I often forget why I went into the hall!  LOL

As far as having trouble with saying stuff and being like what did I just say or oh no how come I said that, happens all the time when I'm adjusting to being on prednisone.  Gets worse if I start to get dehydrated from prednisone sweats or too many bathroom trips, I always know I should drink more when I can barely manage to say anything the way I want to ;)
