AGONIZING CRAMPS- HELP NEEDED

i HAVE BEEN UP ALL NIGHT WITH ONLY ONE HOUR OF SLEEP, I have agonizing cramping pain and spasm,and am vomiting. My Crohns is in the jejunum, stupidly yesterday I ate some chocolate covered peanuts, they have never affected me like this before

I have taken three tramadol and mylanta double strength/

Please what do you take that can allieviate this agony. Unfortunately I am allergic to anything with coedeine in it.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd probably go to the hospital - especially if I was vomiting.

Unfortunately I haven't had any luck with regular pain medication so I don't have any suggestions for you.

I would go to the hospital or at least to the family doctor and have an x-ray of the abdomin to rule out a blockage. It is good you haven't had any codeine as it is constipating and that is the last thing you need. Please let us know how you make out.

Definitely go to the hospital. Mine is in the ileum as well and I had my 1st blockage after eating peanut butter pie (with peanuts chopped inside and on top) as well as whipped cream (before I knew I was lactose intolerant) and what a horrible combo. I believe the whipped cream caused inflamation and the peanuts stopped me up! 3 days in the hospital.

Hopefully, you are at the hospital as I write.  I agree with everybody--vomiting is a serious symptom in Crohn's, and you could have an obstruction for sure.  Please let us know how you make out!  We are all out here for you (when we are not in the bathroom, hah).

Thankyou for your replies, have come back from the  Local Doctor, it is not an obstruction thank god, the pain has finally eased and I  have stopped vomiting. This has been by far the worst I have ever been, I will defintely not even look at a peanut ever again.

I am going to see my gastro Doc next week, he wants to start me on something I think is called Mesalasmine (not sure of the spelling).

Thankyou to every one on the forum, this is a horrible disease, so disabling, I pray that soon they will find a cure.

Glad to hear everything is going to ok. Something to try for pain is a heating pad of some sort, that helps me with some of the pain.

Glad to hear you are doing better. So of course as I am reading this post I have a batch of peanut butter cupcakes in the oven.

I'm glad you are not obstructed. Mesalamine is good--I have been taking 1200 mg twice daily for years. It works throughout the intestine, spreading medicine as it dissolves, easing inflammation. I don't have any side effects at all!

Hi I avoid nuts and seeds. I will not eat corn or popcorn either. Glad to hear you are feeling better and hope your new meds. work for you . lol gail

Glad you're better. Lesson learned the hard way I'm afraid. For all you nut lovers out there how about a suggestion? Sure you can't tolerate 'em whole or chopped, but you can put them in a coffee grinder and add them to your foods. That is on a good day and in small amounts. Pecans are one nut that I can't tolerate at all even ground up. Target carries a coffee grinder for about 20 bucks.
