Hello to all!  I have been going through a very long process of having every test under the sun done on me only to be told that I'm "normal" nothing is wrong.  I went to an awesome doctor yesterday who has ordered a blood test to make sure it's not Chron's disease but he feels that's the likelyhood.  I have a cousin who has it and my daughter has struggled with intestinal problems from about age 3.  After talking to the cousin today that has Chron's I feel pretty sure as well that this is the cause of my horrid abdominal pain.  I can't wait to get to know you and have some kind of support for the pain I feel.  No one in the medical world seems to believe that my pain is real, but believe me, IT IS!  I am 26 yrs old with two small children.  I've been married for 7 years and am delighted to have found this forum.

Have you had a Small Bowel Follow Through or CT done yet? These were the two determining factors in my diagnosis. Hang in there.

I had an endoscopy, CT, Ultrasound, and HIDA scan (for gallbladder function) and all were normal.  However, I'm getting ready to have another type of CT done where they expand the bowels?  Also, they are doing a certain type of blood test and doing a lower scope as well as colonoscopy.  I'm hanging! lol

Welcome and I am sorry you are going thru this. Unfortunately what you are going thru is the roughest part the dx delay. The only way to be for sure about crohn's is a colonscopy, but you can do other tests. I prefer a small bowel follow thru xray, but that was just because I was dx that way.

whats the small bowel folloe thru xray? isit that were u drink that liquid and they watch it travel thru ur body?

The small bowel follow through is where you drink barium and then they proceed to take x rays every 15 minutes as it goes through.

oh yh it is, i had all these when i was young, back then i didnt no the names of anything, i just used to scream and demand they wernt doing it, but they always did. I remember it tasting like licorice.

This stuff tastes like chalk and makes you poop white, and crohns may have not been bad enough to register in the xrays then....

Plus you would still likely need to have colonscopy.

Thank you all *SO* much for your warm welcome.  They have me scheduled for the Lower GI and Colonoscopy on May 8th, hopefully they'll get answers then.  It's nice to know you're not alone and going crazy.  It's frustrating when they keep doing tests and everything comes back normal.  Not that I want something to be wrong, but I'm sure you all understand =)

Hi Samantha and Welcome! I was diagnosed with a Colonoscopy, although I went through the other tests too. I just had a Colonoscopy and they gave me OSMO Prep pills instead of the drink. It was much easier going down although it had a delayed reaction. I hope they get to the bottom of this for you. This is a wealth of information for you. Take care of youself! Janice

nsgrimm welcome to the forum :) Everyoe here is very cool about letting you complain and vent and full of helpful tips and information. It's awful not knowing what's wrong...I totally understand that you'd rather hear what you're sick with rather then "I don't know what's wrong with you." Whatever it is though it'll get better and you'll be able to get through. We all do even though sometimes it sucks and can seem overwhelming. Welcome again... :)
