I have to work on papers all weekend!! Wahhhhhhhhhhh!! Maybe if I didn't slack off half the semester it wouldn't be so tough lol!  Once this week is over it isn't too long until it will be finals.  I'm looking at the light at then end of the tunnel though and it is managable.  I'm writing my independent writing project this semester which is basically one huge paper that counts as once class.  My second draft is due Monday.  *sigh*  Then a first draft of an Internet Law paper is due Thursday.... I think I can I think I can I think I can....

Hmmm,,, I used to do the same thing procrastinate until itseems almost impossible. I am sure that if you buckle down to work you will get it done in less time than you think and will do well.

UGH, chica, good luck. That sounds like a lot of papers. I SO know your pain about having slacked and now feeling completely panicked...sometimes I just want to hide under a rock!

I have to study biostatistics, immunology, and endocrine disorders all weekend, and do a PowerPoint presentation on the placebo effect. Maybe about 12-15 hours of work. I have done officially ONE of those hours as of tonight.

If you want, we can write down lists of what we need to do here and check in every few hours to cross an item off the list. Sometimes that keeps me more motivated...especially if someone else is watching me and holding me accountable, LOL.

I have a term paper due Monday too! I'm sure it hasn't as bad as all that you have to do but I've definitely procrastinated and now I had 2 days to get it done! It sucks!

Yay! A support group within a support group!!! Well lets see... my current goals
1 - add more case law into my paper
2 - add more transitional language between sections
3 - explain the legislative history behind FRE 609 and FRE 404 (b) with more historical references (yawn) and case illustrations.
4 - reorganize the sections to my fussy profs liking

Status - getting there lol!! I got a few other things accomplished on it so far so I feel good for what I am getting done tonight. I want to spend 2 more hours on it tonight and not too many internet breaks!

Well, here's my list of what I want to get done this weekend:

1) Get at least 3/4 through my ethics presentation;
2) Read (and understand) 2 thyroid lectures;
3) Read (and somewhat understand) 1 immunology lecture;
4) Do a biostatistics problem set;
5) Review the anterior pituitary and hypothalamic hormones

So far tonight I have paid all of my outstanding bills (a new student loan just came in, thank heavens, so I could do that), cleaned the kitchen, bought a bouganvillea, and did some grocery shopping. Uh, no schoolwork to speak of. Okay, am starting on that right...NOW!

Good luck ladies! I'm pulling for you. I've spent the week touring colleges and thanking God that its my daughter not me thats going. I don't ever want to go back to writing papers and studying. But I hope you are both getting a lot done. Come up for air every now and again though. You know what they say about all work and no play.....

Yay! Good job Navy and Sarita and everyone else! I finished revising a couple sections and feel like I got a lot accomplished last night even if I can't articulate what it was. I worked till 3:30am but slept till noon. I do my best work late at night when I am the only one up! Just getting started into it again today!

Awesome, Fitzy...I like the enthusiasm! How's it going, Navy?

I got through my thyroid lectures and actually studied AHEAD a little bit for endocrinology today. The stuff coming up this week is intense - including the adrenal glands, SHUDDER. Tonight I'm going to finish that ethics presentation.

The whole stats thing is making my brain hurt and I just keep avoiding it like the plague. It's open on my desktop and I just can't bring myself to sit down and DO it. I know I have to, though! Same with immunology...ugh.

Keep it up, chicas - and thanks to everyone for the cheerleading, it is nice to have our own little squad!

I told my husband about our support group within the support group and he looked like I had 10 heads. I don't think he gets the concept of "online friends." I am at my desktop still working on the IWP but the going is unfortunatly slow and the internet is a constant distraction. I can't just shut it off because I need it to access my research.

I'm definitely with you guys. For two of my classes, I have about 30 pages of writing to do in less than a month. For just one of those classes, it's 20 pages, two 5 page papers and a 10 page final paper, and a presentation as well. The other class is two 5 page papers. That's not even including the 4 finals I have next month, all on Friday and Saturday (yes, my university has finals on Saturday, and yes, I'm very angry that I have to take two finals that day). I know I'll power through all of it, but looking at the fact that I have 30 pages to write in a month makes me queasy...

Now, back to research for the first 5 page paper that's due on Thursday. Yay for analyzing First Amendment and prior restraint in a hip-hop related legal case! tongue

I feel you Fitzy. I have my final draft of my memo due on Friday.. and I feel like I'm not making it any better with all the changes I make. Plus, I haven't even started outlining for finals yet! Ah! But I keep trying to do things one step at a time. And I'm also totally the kind of person who gets things done late at night (hence why I'm still up).

My goal is to be relatively close/happy with my "final" product of my memo by the end of tomorrow. Then I'll go over it with my TA after class on Monday. Also for tomorrow? Try to get done with my final reading assignments for classes for the week - I can't believe it's the last week of class already.

I find it funny that even when I'm exhausted and behind on school work, I find the most random things to distract myself with. Today it was all about laundry. At least it made me feel productive.

Anywho, keep motivated you guys. I like this mini motivational thing you've created.

Hey oneblood and brit! Thanks for checking in. I know you 2 were at school and had posted pre-school about worries w/ the crohns. Glad to see the end of the year is almost here and you are both chugging along! Brit - did you do your oral argument yet? I was pretty stressed about that and even warned them I might need a bathroom break between sides but I ended up being fine! Same with my mock trial! There is a post on the UC board that adrenaline keep the "d" at bay. I would have to agree. The stress brings it on but once I actually start something as scary as speaking in front of a group, fight or flight kicks in and I am feeling good.

I actually had my oral argument a couple weeks ago. It went pretty well I think (I get my grade tomorrow on it). The thing that helped me was that we got to have a practice one a week beforehand with our TA's. And the day we had our practice one our professor ended up making us stand up and answer questions on the spot in class. Basically I didn't have enough time to totally stress out about it. Ha! But it definitely was something I was afraid of. But only having my TA's and my professor (and my assigned opposing counsel) in the room made it easier.

Did you have a mock trial you had to do your first year? Because we didn't have that... all the mock trial stuff is for the club that is pretty much for choice. And I'm definitely not choosing to do that. Ha..

Back to working on my memo.

Hey fitzy!

Yeah, I'm making it through the year just fine. Actually, the first semester was tough. I had ideas that I'd become a doctor, but realized part of the way through the semester that I'm not a "hard science" kind of person and ended up finishing the semester with a fairly low GPA. But, now that I'm back into my true love, political science, I'm flourishing, all of my classes are going well.

I really shouldn't complain about writing papers because I'm an oddity and enjoy writing quite a bit. It's actually hard for me to stay within page limits a lot of the time.

Today, I'm doing laundry, which makes me feel more productive than I am haha, and I'm still doing research for that paper. I'm hoping to get at least 2-3 pages written. I have a lot of the day tomorrow to finish it up if need be.

I hear you oneblood- during finals I find myself cleaning the litter box to feel productive.

Brit - Trial Practice is an optional course for 2Ls and 3Ls. It is highly recommended if you want to do litigation. I took it and really enjoyed it, but my boss was my professor so I think I was less nervous than most people during my trial.

Procrastinating update:

The second draft of the IWP is done and turned in. I finished at 1 last night and could not sleep. At 3:30 I took a benadryl. I should have just read my law books. I had to get up at 7 and was still totally groggy from the lack of sleep and the drug. I went back to bed till 8 but then REALLY had to get up. I have almost 2 pages on my Internet Law first draft paper. That is due Thursday. I have it mapped out in my head where I want it to go and I feel like that is half the battle. I'd like to have more on paper and get to bed by 1:30 tonight.

How are the rest of you night owls doing?

Well I thought I was close to being done with my memo until I took it into my TA today. Basically she found a gazillion things wrong.. so more work to do. Ah, such is life. At least I have my GI appointment tomorrow.. so I will feel like something is getting accomplished.
