Humira dosage

I have been on humira for about 2 months.  i took a loading dose of 4 pens, then 2 pens two weeks later and then 1 pen every other week. I felt good after the loading dose but 1 pen every other week doesn't seem enough.  I am about to start weekly injections.  What dosage does everyone else take and how long did it take to see some good results?

In fact I may not be able to take anymore, due to elevated liver enzymes. I wonder why some people just cant take these

I started out taking mine every other week but stoped working as well so I know take it evey week and since doing so I can tell a differents.

I started as you did with the humira in Sept. While I was waiting for it to be approvedthru my insurance my fistula appeared. I noticed 10 days after the injection my joint pain, abd pain and fistula drainage increased. In Nov my Gi staryed me on 1 shot every week. I had to have Sx to rid me of the fistula on 1-11-08. I had to skip a week in Dec since I had a sinus infection and my Cd knew it! My last dose of humira pre op was 1-4 Traditionally you must wait 1 to 2 weeks before using humira post op. Unfortunately I got yet another wound infection so I had to wait til the infection cleared. My GI had me start back on humira on 2-27. He had me.try every other week at 1st but my CD had already been acting up. As of 3-19 I was back on every week and I am still having issues but much more mild

I'm so glad to hear that people are seeing relief on the every week dosage. I can totally feel that the Humira was working for me, as I actually have formed stools, but I could tell that I needed more. My dr just increased my dose to weekly, after a flare when I finally got down below 5mg Prednisone. It's only been a week, so fingers crossed this will do it.

My doc said I'm only the second person he's put on Humira, and he wants me to come off of it after the Azasan takes effect. Right now I'm taking Humira every other week, 100mg of Azasan daily, and 40 mg of pred. I had tapered down to 20 mg of pred, but had a bad flare last week. I'm really not sure Humira is doing much, if anything, however I would much rather up the Humira dosage to see if it works better than stay on the higher dose of pred.

Somehow, the pharmacy has completely screwed up my Humira prescription; they think a month's supply is four pens. So it would just be a matter of starting to take one weekly. I know I shouldn't do it without my doc's permission, but he really doesn't want me on the Humira to begin with. But I'm seriously thinking of going to every week just so I can see if I can get the pred down to 20 mg or less. I *hate* taking this much pred.
