I had my first real accident today, you know where your buns 'o steel give up on you and out it flows. I really thought I would be older, but CD holds no judgements of age. I am saddened by this and frustrated and mad and embarrassed. Every time I feel I have accepted this disease, it tests my patience again. I now need to clean my seat in my car. I am sure I will laugh about this some day, but for now I feel a little older and less in control of my life. What upsets me the most is that I was only driving two miles. I couldn't hold it for two stupid miles. It makes me want to stay home where I am by a potty. Tonight I will cry and probably eat and then hopefully I will pick myself up and try again tomorrow. I have my second remicade treatment this Friday and I am very excited. I feel this is the answer my family and I have been waiting for. Thanks for listening and send an extra hug my way if you can.

I am very sorry to hear this.  I had a few accidents before I knew I had crohns.  So, I just thought I was unable to hold it in!!  So, now I can believe at least I have an excuse!  I don't like it, but the thought comforts me a bit.  Way to keep a positive attitude, however, and try again tomorrow! :-)

Honey, we have been there. Cry all you want. I do want to suggest that formula 409 carpet and upholstery cleaner foam as soon as possible gets out if you do it quickly (with in a couple hours) in my experience.

Aw, don't be embarrassed, I know it is hard but everyone goes through this!  At least you were in your car!  Here is an extra hug for you :)

Just think, tonight you can relax, safe at home - give yourself a nice little treat (chocolate? cookies?  chocolate cookies?) and take a nice bath and enjoy yourself.  You go through today - tomorrow will be so much easier!!!

Like wednesday2007 said...don't be embarrassed. It does happen to all of us sometime! Take it easy the rest of the day, tomorrow will be better!
I just had my second Remicade infusion today. Have you noticed any improvement yet?

(HUG) - don't forget ot get back on that horse... the sooner you take another excursion (without an accident) the better the chances are that you won't let your anxiety take over. An accident can be scary.

HUGS! Goodness we have all been through this, but it's still very hard. I carry a change of clothes and wipes. I remember driving to my classroom and didn't make it, I had to go to the store buy clothes, meet my boss and students at the door and go change! Yikes! Luckily, all the students new my situation and were gracious. I have become a stronger individual because of this disease and much more caring for others. I wouldn't change anything~ Crazy huh, so take care of yourself, you have a right to be upset it's no fun, just a process.

I feel for you! Until recently I had a long commute. After surgery, I was on several drugs that really gave me D. I ended up equiping my car just in case. A metal bucket I could sit on lined with 2 plastic trash bags. Also wet wipes!. I kept several paper towels in the trash bag to absorb stuff. If I had to, I could have pulled over and jumped on the bucket! People won't be able to see. I havven't had to use it yet, but just knowing I have that option readily available has taken the stress out of driving!!

Thanks so much. The hugs made me feel better. I knew you guys would be able to relate. I look forward to tomorrow and I am even going to a ballgame with my hubby, Go Rockies! I will sleep better tonight because you touched my heart. Thank You!!!

JenLS- My nurse said I probably wouldn't notice a difference from my first treatment, but I am in less pain and I have more energy. I still have tons of D and arthritis, but I like to think the remicade is already helping. As I said my second treatment is Friday and I plan on feeling better this weekend.

about 6 months before my Crohn's diagnosis, I had an accident at work....I made it to the bathroom but couldn't get my clothes off in time. I remember crying and crying in the bathroom, because it was such a mess, I couldn't figure out how to get out of there without being noticed. I'm so sorry this happened to you! I hope the Remicade works and the accident will just be a sad memory!

Having accidents is the hardest to deal with, but you really are not alone. We all understand and most of us have been there (wishing, too, that we were older when we hit that point). I always remind myself that nobody knows what happened unless I tell them. If I tell, it's always people that I know will understand --family, people on here...

My daughter's school is 2 miles away. There have been many a time when I have not made it home. Even a few blocks from my house. It's almost gotten to where I feel ironicly silly about it. Thinking to myself as I pass random people on the street, "HA! You see me here in this car, but you have *no* idea that I am pooping as I drive!" Of course, sometimes it hurts so badly to poop that I can't manage it without a horrible grimace or cry. This DD stinks...

Hugs, we all have had our share of accidents don't feel bad. I hope the Remicade works good for you. I have been on Remicade for almost 5 years now.

I feel your pain and embarrassment been there myself. I know what you are going through "BIG HUGS TO YOU" but that is what make us stronger. There will be better days ahead. Take care. yeah

I am so sorry this happened to you. I remember my first time, unfortunatly I'm a pro now as I have had accidents almost daily for years now (up until the past 3 months, new meds working pretty good). all I can say is you are not alone. There are so many people like you (us) out there, you just don't see them. As humiliated and embarrassed as you are, its not your fault that you couldn't control it. I hope you dont have to go through it again, but many of us do. There are tips I can offer that help me out -

wear dark colors as much as you can
always use lage purses (you can fit wipes and extra panties in there)
keep extra pants in your car trunk and TP
Keep a sweater with you at all times so you can wrap it around your waist
surround yourself with friends and family who understand your condition and are willing to go on a bathroom hunt with you if you suddenly have the urge.

Most all of us have been there, on more than one occassion as well, it's unfortunately the nature of the beast...I used to drive a beautiful ford taurus 24 valve, fast car, but not fast enough at times (you know hwat I mean), I sadly had to give it up for a van (a ford windstar sport) I took the very back bench-seats out and bought one of those port-o-pots people use for outdoor camping, it's become my security blanket as I wasn't able to leave the house for around 3 yrs due to the severe frequency issues I had, accidents were a given if I dared.

It's sad that this disease dictates our lives for us, from the clothes we wear to the vehicals we drive, but where there's a will there's a way and if we have to make adjustments because of the DD so that we can still have partial lives then we do what we gotta do...if nothing eles we sure become creative having this DD.

Just wanted to say that i had 2 accidents when i was just 17, im now 27 and haven't had one for 10 years. I'm a very lucky girl-i hope things improve for you and you can put this behind you.

No need to feel embarassed at all. I remember when I had my first accident, I was flaring pretty badly and had some head cold issues going on. I was walking in the kitchen with my then still in diapers little girl walking right behind me. I sneezed reaaaally hard and yeah, you could guess what happened. My little girl looked at me and started fussing! "Momma you need a diapie?" I was so embarassed and miserable when it happened but now it seems like it wasn't even a big deal. I hope you're feeling much better!

Hi Hoping the Rem. does the trick for you. I use a garbage bag on the seat and a towel when necessary. lol gail

Awww *hugs*  We've all been there I think, with or without the disease.  Keep your head up and keep moving forward ;)
