Humira

I have been taking Humira for a few months and recently changed to weekly injections but I still have not seen amazing results - although a small improvement has occured.  How long has it taken others to see great results from Humira?

I started on Humira Jan 20, and like Ne Ne, I'm just now starting to see some improvement from it. I had some pretty bad side effects from the Humira at first, but had zero side effects from my latest shot (this past Saturday). I'm tapered back down to 20 mg of prednisone now, and am hopeful that I'll have enough benefit from the Humira and Azasan now to stay at or below 20 mg of pred. The last two times I tapered to 20 mg, the CD symptoms came back within a week. I'm at day five now at 20 mg, and still holding remission. Humira seems to work very quickly in some people, and very slowly in others. Since I have great insurance coverage, it's not costing me much to just stay the course and accept whatever relief it can give.

You probably don't really want to hear this but I started Humira a month ago and within the first week of my initial injections (four the first time then two every other week from now on) I had phenomenal improvement. My stiffness and a lot of pain from arthritis went away and now I am just feeling sore like after a moderate workout. My BM's tapered significantly to the point that I had a follow up with my GI and told him I might be constipated but he told me it was normal to not go 10 to 12 times a day...... Anways I do hope it works for you, if not that your doctor finds an appropriate treatment that does work for you to get you into remission. Best of luck.

After 3 months, i was like 'hum... I think it is doing something, but not much'. At 100 weeks, i said 'let's try something else'. during the wash-out period (3 months) I realized it had been helping, just not that much (as my symptoms worsened).

IMHO, give it 3-4 months or as long as your dr says to and then switch to something else. there are lots of choices (tysabri, remicade if you didn't try it yet, one other that was just approved a couple of weeks ago). lots of choices. you shouldn't have to suffer.
