I apoligize for not completing my countdown but my computer has crashed so my best friend Marquita is passing along this statement to keep you guys infomed of my progress.
Arrived at hospital at 11am (yesterday)-scared out of my mind but also excited that the dreaded bowel prep was over. In pre-op I was given some lovely medicine through my pic line to help calm my nerves, I think the medicine was versed (sp??). but at that point I didnt care if it was herion or pure cocaine I was just happy to get something...lol... I found out that I was definately having it laproscopic so that was good. Went into the or at approx 1:15 pm and woke up i recovery at approx. 4:40pm, awoke with dry mouth and lots of abdominal pain, had 2 small incisions and 1 long incision approx 3 inches long.
I took 3.5 ml of dilautin plus 3ml of toradol to control pain postop, taken up to my room within an hour. Doctor wrote for 4ml of morphine every 4 hours, tried 3 doses but unable to bring pain below an 8, switched over to 2 ml of dilautin and 30ml of toradol every 3 hrs, finally comfort and sleep was located...lol....
Great caring nursing staff..foley catheter still in bu no ng tube...yay.....Have been on a liquid diet but scareed to eat, so all I've had is 4 popcicles, 2cups of jello, and some cups of ice..Able to walk the hallways today. Was told by nurses that me being up and walking is a good thing, following ski bu advice and chewing gum..Bowel sounds are present, so overall it has gone well so far..As well as I can feel when I have had my sausage links pulled out, chopped off, and re-attached. Doctor stated that the diseased portion was pretty bad but remainder of bowel looked good, estimated discharge is Sunday or Monday..
I couldnt have done this without your guys, thanks for all of the moral support and prayers..look forward to being able to help the next chronie, not will be faced with this decision.
Skibum, hope we can recoup quickly to be outon the beach by July but staying out of the water because of those darn sharks...
