Re-start Remicade next week - but steriod injection ??

Well , I got my appt today for the re-starting of remicade - however she said that I will need someone to take me home because of the iv benedryl ...then she said I will also be getting iv steroid too ....

Is that like prednisone ??? she said I will get it every time I go ..

Has anyone else ever gotten this ?

Hey I also take remicade and get the glorious benadryl and pre-steroid injection. It is generally solumedrol or solucortef...and it isnt bad at all, it just helps prevent allergic reactions. Doesnt have the same yucky effects as prednisone so no worries because it is only with remicade and not everyday. Best of Luck

Wow they must have changed things since I've had Remicade.  I had my last infusion probably about 6-9 months ago and was on it for 4 years.  The only thing I took before was one benadryl pill and two extra strength tylenol.  I always drove myself home.  My how quickly things change!  Good luck!

I am currently on remicade. When I first started I didn't have to take anything, but now that I stopped and restarted it, I have to take benadryl, tylenol and solucortef thru the IV when I get there. It makes me a little sleepy, but it wears off by the end of the 3 hours it takes. I drive myself home and it's an hour one way for me.

I have always taken mine with all 3 extra drugs. I went off for 6 months and now I know he does it to just be certain I do not have a reaction. I have been on Cade for 7 years.
