Need a GI in Atlanta who goes beyond drugs!

cool  Hello Everyone:

It's been quite a while since I have posted.  I have been reading occasionally.

My guy has finally started meds last autumn and he has been doing well except for periods of severe nausea and continued weight loss.  He has both CD and celiac so he has the double whammy.  I continue to support him in his life and my question is about doctors in the Atlanta area.  Surely there has to be a GI who will do more than just prescribe meds.  He needs someone who will work with his food allergies and lifestyle as well.  If you know of anyone, I would appreciate hearing about them.

I like Dr. Robin Rutherford at Emory Digestive Disease Clinic. I saw her at a CCFA Education Program and her talk was on Nutrition.

I go to Dr. Wolf at St. Joes. He is supposed to be one of the best if not THE best in GA. I've been seeing him for 7 yrs+

Who does he see now?

hey, how are you? it is always fun to see your name. another option would be to find a naturopath or dietician. is he really careful with gluten? you have probably seen that I stopped gluten 4 months ago and feel fabulous, perfect, wonderful! the nice thing about dietary issues is they are totally controllable; no drugs, no tests, just do it. there is something very empowering about that. I doubt many docs have much input as to diet and lifestyle. he is own as far as that is concerned.

Just a reminder that it is best *not* to post the name of a doctor you're dissatisfied with online. We need to be careful to avoid defamation.

My original dx 15 years ago was from Dr. Alan Sunshine (really!) at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta Gastroenterology. I now see Dr. Steven Ellison, Wellbrook Endoscopy and Gastroenterology in Conyers, GA. Very happy with both.

I've heard good things about Dr. Sunshine as well. recommended to me from someone else.

RE: Ivy's comment: If someone isn't satisfied with a doc, posting about that experience 1st hand is protected speech. There may be a forum rule against it, but it isn't defamation or libel if it is just your experience. Even saying "I don't like X" or "Dr Y told me blah blah blah" isn't defamation. If you make something up they can sue you. and the odds are that most Dr's have more $$$$ than most patients. But that not withstanding, it is not an unreasonable question.

If I had a horrible experience with Dr Z, you can be darn sure that i'd tell you all about it. Y'all would want to know and you'd appreciate me more for saving you from the same or similar trouble. And I'd appreciate a warning from other people too. If someone doesn't agree with me, they can post a response.
