Hey Penny
Since starting in Nov. I had only 1 bad reaction. After the loading doses, I came down with Shingles. I went to the doc right away, was given a script for Valtrex and pain meds. I had to skip one humira shot and shingles went away in a few weeks. Not had any reactions like that since. I do get headaches several times a week.
My doctor switched me to weekly humira injections now. Tom. night will be my 4th in a row. I feel great ever since we switched to the weekly shots. My bm have been fairly steady, about 3 to 4 times a day. Which is kind of amazing, before humira(oct) I was going around 10 - 15 times a day, depending on how badly I was flaring. The big D has been few and far in between.
I still have a few bad days, definetly not in remission but overall its a big improvement. I even have joined the gym and started working out but been very careful when doing any stomach excercises and no treadmill, stick with the bike.
As for the bi-weekly shots, I felt good the first week that I took the shot. However the 2nd off /week, I kind of felt like it lost effectiveness and my symptoms increased leading up to the next shot.
Thank you for the encouragment. Have only been on it 2 months, I dont expect miracles, my GI says I am his first patient being on Humira, everyone else did well on Remicade, so I am his ginea pig, haha. I live in Canada and Humira is still pretty new, and I have great medical coverage with my Husbands company. Humira is alot cheaper, but nevertheless, keeping my fingers crossed. I still have the odd little pain but nothing compared to without, no bloating or painful gas. Thanks for your words.
Penny
