Is this joint pain from crohn's?

I'm 28, I have Crohn's disease and since my baby was born in January, I have had severe pain in my hips and knees.  At night if I don't sleep with a pillow between my knees (I'm a side sleeper) the pain in my hips is exrutiating.  My knees hurt if I sit a certain way for too long.  My crohn's has been active for the last 6 months, no major pains, just diahreah 6-12 times a day and I watch what I eat.  I'm on sulfazine to control it.  So do you think the joint pain is related to my Crohn's?

I get inflammatory arthritis in my lower back, knees and ankles with severe flares related to Crohns. I had to take hi dose pred to get the inflammation down.

I was diagnosed 1/2007 and in 4/2008 began to experience arthritis in many of my joints (ankles, knees, sholders, hips, wrists) I had to increase my predisone to help with the pain. I have an appointment to see a rhumatologist in 2 weeks. hopefully I can get some resolution.

It is very much so connected with crohn's, it is usually Osteoarthritis, or a Crohn's arthritis. I am 47 and was on Celebrex, and prior Vioxx, and I find if my crohns is active, so is my arthritis. You may want to get it checked out as I had terrible lower back pain after I had my daughter, a specialist said it could of been related to the weight gain or she was lying on a nerve. It did go away. Along with Crohn's which seems to be prominate is poor eye vision so keep that in mind too. I find once you get diagnosed with Crohn's everything seems to be ill health related. So the doctors say. Being an autoimmune disease, nothing is ruled out. Take care, good luck.

I get confused about this too. My hip and lower back have been hurting, but my digestive symptoms seem under control. I'm so sick of going to doctors; I may wait awhile to see if it resolves on its own, but I keep wondering if is related to the Crohn's, as I didn't have any joint issues prior to my Crohn's problems,,,, then again, I'm getting old!

Could it be Crohn's? Yes. But it could also be something else, and as a precaution it would be a good idea to tell the doctors about it.

Even experienced doctors can find it hard to diagnose all our aches and pains, so I really do think it would be better to ask the doctors for their advice rather than to rely on what you hear here. It would be terrible if you relied on the information you obtained here and thought that your pains were "just" Crohn's, when in reality they were caused by something different, if not worse.
