I just thought it might be nice for everyone to maybe say a few things about themselves. Im on here now and then and wonder where people are from-how old they are--and how long they have had Crohns  (not everyones siggy says)

Is anyone else curious?

My stats: Im 28, female, live in U.S., and from my siggy have had Crohns 3yrs!

I'm 36, female, live in the U.S. and I have had Crohn's for almost 8 years now.  I'm married to a wonderful man

who is very supportive of me and my disease!   We have a very special little almost 2 1/2 year old boy

who I love with all my heart!!!!  yeah    We also have two labador's who are 5, a yellow and a blackie.

I am a very young 50 year female (LOL), who lives in the US, and I have had Crohns for almost 33 years. Two resections so far, hopefully won't have to have anymore. Might have to have a new hip and new knee one day, but hoping for no further resections.

I'm a 41 year old married family man. Two kids: a six year old boy and a 13 month girl. I've had symptoms of Crohns since high school, which have gotten worse progressively over the years. The symptoms finally got bad enough to make me cave in and do something about it last October. Glad I did; I'm feeling better now than I have in 20 years.

Hello, I'm an even younger 56 year old.. I live in th States now, but I'm originally from the UK, been here 12 years now...

Dx officially 10 years ago. Like Nanners I've had 2 resections. Lots of obstructions, kidney stones and other by-product of
this disease. The one that really is hurting the most, is chronic pancreatitis... Oh well, I still have some sense of humor left,
and a good husband, and a grandson that lights my life.

Im 52, new to crohn's, living in the UK. I have my 21month old grandson 3 days a week. Trying to keep going, waiting for definite diagnosis. Upper tract endoscopy Thurs.

I am a 32 year old female in the U.S. I have had stomach pain and D since high school but didn't get dx until 4 yrs ago when I lost a lot of blood. I LOVE dogs and like most people..haha!

I am 49, live in the US, married, with two kids ages 19 and 15, and a very old golden retriever (almost 14) and a cat. I have had IBS all my life, but probably only had Crohn's the last couple years. I love this site...you are all a huge support for me!

I am a 27 year old female who lives in the states.  I have been married almost 3 years.  I was diagnosed in January of this year after a long battle of symptoms for almost 2 years.  (I know that's not as long as a lot of you, so I feel bad for you, but my symptoms were awful and no one would listen to me...other than my family)  Anyways...I am currently doing very well with my meds and am planning to start trying to get pregnant this summer.  My GI says I better do now because you never know when the disease will rear it's ugly head again!

I am 26, live in Australia and was officially diagnosed last year Dec 07 after getting very ill with CD and Sacroiliitus after years of wondering what was wrong with me and doubting whether doctors had a clue.
Love my partner, would like to have a baby and love animals especially my 2 shar peis who keep me very happy. One of my dogs has a weak immune system and hip dysplasia so we understand each other haha!

Hi A hum I am a over 50 year old woman. IBS for 27 years, Crohns for 2 more think it's been around much longer...Large abcess surgery on abd. ,2 bad obstructions ,one resection, body pain .I am a single Mom of one. A beautiful loving minature poodle ,many bird friends,gardener and a swimmer. Live in Canada near the beautiful ocean, in the country.Needs :lots of good friends , laughs, info giving and getting,being a part of a good thing cain't beat that. lol gail

I'm a married 38 year old woman living in a beach community in Queens, NY. I was diagnosed about with Crohns about 2.5 years ago but have had gi issues since I was 8. I've been married for almost 11 years. I don't have any kids but I do have 2 Tonkinese cats and a dog who is a Lab/Pit mix.

I'm 29 living in Oklahoma. My dx was April 2007, but I'd been sitting on my symptoms (so to speak) for years because I was afraid I'd lose my career (which is what ultimately happened). Multiple fistula starting with the small intestine all the way down to perianal. Amazingly, no surgeries past or scheduled.

So now I'm a full-time student who loves hearing 22-year-old teaching assistants tell me how the world is gonna be, annoying my roommate with annoyingly loud guitars too-early in the day and kayaking and other such activities that make my doctor feel the need to remind me I'm supposed to be sick...

Good idea! :) I'm 30 years old, and we live in the states. Married 12 years to a wonderful man, as of yesterday! :) We have a 10 year old son, that I SAH with and homeschool. We've got a 3 year old spoiled beagle named JoJo, and 4 furry bunny rabbits.

I've had Crohn's Disease since around 18 years old. Really started to flare up when I was 20, after my son was born. No resections as of yet *knocks on wood*. But have had a sever GI bleed, lost my gallbladder, and had a rectal fistula fixed a few years back. Recently my last flare included some strange swelling on my foot, hand, and lip! Still I feel lucky as I was in remission the last two years, just while taking Asacol. Right now I'm tapering off of a round of Prednisone, and hoping to go back in a lonnnnngggg remission!

Good morning!

I was born and have lived in Dallas for all 41 years of my life. I have a wonderful 11-year old daughter, one Schnauzer (for her more of a big dog person myself - Great Danes are my breed of choice), 9 leopard geckos (very fun little hobby) and one paint horse that is a real sweetie. My diagnosis came in January of 07 during a short stint in Presby Dallas (don't do hospitals very well). It's in the ileum (? - small intestine), along with many of the little squeeze dolls things (divertuculum). I am told that the divertculum in small bowel is pretty rare. I have FINALLY found a new doctor that comes very highly recommended (not sure if you guys remember my "need a new doc" thread). I go see Dr. Peter Lobe tomorrow and I am VERY excited. Hoping this one I won't have to sit and argue about crohn's meds and where my divertculum is every office visit like the last (un-named doc). I have been fighting surgery for two years now. The way I see it, no blockages/strictures = no surgery. I want to explore all medication options before I let 'em cut me open.

I cannot seem to find remission so I have only ridden two times this year. BUT I decided that I am going to ride at least three times a month, even if it kills me. Finally gave her a bath last week. It's like bathing a 1200 pound dog! hehe. Wish I could put a pict of her up here for everyone to see my Bailey girl.

Hope this reply finds everyone in a good place and doing okay... okay is great in my book.

ooo, i need to change my signature line! i am actually 33 as of last week ;) but i live in new england in good ol' massachusetts. never been married, no kids but i do have a wonderful boyfriend and 2 kitties, ivy and tobiko. i like being outdoors whether it be camping or going to the ocean. i like going into providence and boston for awesome people watching. i am a food lover through and through so this stupid crohn's has put a bit of a damper on my foodie goodness. and i am also a darn good shot on the pool table! been playing since i was 13, i have my own stick and have been on pool leagues ;)

I'm 27, from the UK, have recently got married and have a little Jack Russel. I work part time (due to crohn's) and in my spare time i love to go walking, eat out, spend time with friends and family- the usual really!

Hi, I'm a 57 year old , married female who lives in West Virginia.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 22, 35 years ago.  I have had 3 resections and numerous blockages.  My last resection was done in 2006.  In March 2007, the CD was back in my bowel where the large and small meet.  I started Humira in April 2007 and am currently injecting every other week.  I have taken all the conventional meds, but the Humira has helped the most.  I have taken Remicade, but had to discontinue due to reactions.

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn's Arthritis, Degenerative Disc Disease, high blood pressure, etc.

I have one daughter and a step-son.  I have a granddaughter who is 5 and my daughter is pregnant with twins who are due around Thanksgiving.  I couldn't manage without my husband.  He has been my rock over the many years dealing with my illnesses. 

This forum and the people who reply are just wonderful.  My wish for everyone is for the hurt to go away!!!

Wow, what a great thread! It's nice to hear a bit about the people behind the text. It really puts more of a personal feeling on this whole experience. Takes the edge of lonliness off, if you know what I mean... how many times have you been out in public when hit with a wave of cramps, and you feel like you're the only one in the world going through it?

I'm a 35 yr old woman, living in Southern California with an awesome and supportive hubby and our 7 yr old son and 5 yr old daughter. Had absolutely NO symptoms at all until September '03, went into remission after 2 months without meds or even seeing a GI. Second flare started in March '06. Was first diagnosed with Proctitis, then Colitis, more recently Crohn's-Colitis. Have not yet reached a true remission, yet am getting closer thanks to now weekly Humira.

Love this site -- a wonderful resource both for information and support.

Hi:

I am 27 years old and have had Crohn's since I was 20. I have not yet been able to get it under any sort of remission and have just been sick as a Dog! But Boy has this yucky illness made me such a strong person- at least that is one benefit (not really but ya'll get it). And I live in the Seattle area!

I have an amazingly supportive Fiance and I will be getting Married on Valentine's Day 2009. So that leaves me about 8 months to get better- YIKES! Please pray for me and send me Fabulous thoughts that this will happen....

Hi,

I may be one of the oldest on the site. Turned 62 in May. I live in New York with my husband and youngest daughter, who will be 25 in July. I have twin daughters who will be 36 in July and both live in other states. My two granddaughters are the light of my life.

I was officially diagnosed with CD at age 19, but suffered many years before. I don't really remember a time as a child when I was free of stomach discomfort.

I have had 3 resections (18 years apart) and many obstructions through the years. Currently on Remicade and about to re-start taking Entocort.

This site is a wonderful source of comfort and knowledge. I often get frustrated and upset having lived with this pretty much forever and everyone here is so helpful and caring.

Great idea! Here is mine: 32 years old Female Married for almost 12 years 2 boys, 8 and 10 years old 2 cats Live in the USA- Suburb’s of Chicago , IL Diagnosed over 1 year ago- Been suffering for at least 10 years Currently switching meds to Humira No surgeries yet (knock on wood)   Karen

Hi, I'm 48 years old and have no idea how long I've had Crohn's.  I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex (Hi Texan with Crohn's, do you see me waving to you". 

I have had "d" problems since I was 19, told it was lactose intolerance.  Learned to deal with it.  At 32 went back to another doctor.  Said it was IBS.  Learned to ignore it.  My daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's, but since I have always been heavy I never really considered that I had anything but IBS.  Slowly over the course of many years, I got sicker and sicker, but since it was so gradual I didn't realize that I had a problem....Until I developed a fistula to my bladder.  I knew right away what it was, since I had done lots of research because of my daughter. 

Within a few days I had to have an emergency resection from almost a complete blockage in my colon.  That was almost 2 years ago.  I feel better then I have in years and only realize now just how sick I was.

Hi Vicky! Waving back at ya! :) Got hit a little hard by the storm that passed through here today. Had to pull out a chainsaw for the large broken branches from our huge hardwood tree.

It's nice to put info to online names. Be even nicer if this flare would end - what, two months now?? Fun fun.
