texan - that is one of the worst stories i have heard! his nickname sounds QUITE fitting. i am so sorry you have to deal with that. do you have any plans to look for another job? all that stress added to this DD is of no help. but MY GOD. i would like to pop that guy in the face for all the horrible things he has said to you. *hugs*

I have started integrating the term "medical disability" into my email correspondence, since learning that CD is considered a disability. Today I was in no mood for him. Right off the bat he walked into my office and started yelling at me... and then came the harassing emails. I shot back a polite request to stop bullying and yelling at me.. ha! No luck there. So... I pulled the picture of my daughter and sat it right in front of the monitor. I can stick it out a while longer. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

First visit with new GI doc: He is very detailed oriented (good), wanted to do another colonoscopy (told him You can't reach it, so - NO WAY!) so he's doing some sort of blood test to see if that can "verify" I have crohn's... again. He said he wants to start me on Remicaid and then immurun (sp?) to get me into remission. (Fingers and toes crossed) If so, work should go MUCH better and Captain D will get off my rear.

Document everything, they do not give you disability sensitivity training in the military. I am not sure if swearing is considered verbal abuse in Texas, but it is in Kansas. So document, maybe witness statements, video/audio tape(while not amissable (sp?), still valuable) all your interaction with him. Do not say anything until you are ready to press charges, also consult a lawyer first. Furthermore a hostile work environment is something to think about as well.

Video in plain sight is better, but "plain sight" is the way to go. I was a surface warfare officer who got crohns and ended up learning alot of humility along the way. Then again I was in law enforcement before I was in the military and think there is a strong social work aspect to that kind of work as well.

I think there is an interesting dynamic for military moving to civilian work especially if they did not want to really go in the civilian field which may have been the case in this instance. I wonder what his job and rank was?

I was diagnosed with Crohn's a little two years ago and unfortunately had to leave my job due to my Crohn's. I haven't worked since 22 April and have noticed a significant different in my health. I still have flares everytime I taper off the 'roids, but the flares are more controlled and I am better able to take care of my body. It is weird taking naps mid day and resting whenever I feel like it (I've always been a very on the go person) but it has helped me tremendously.

I don't plan on working anytime soon as I need to focus on my body healing. Good luck with everything!

So I will make this quick, since I am duplicating here (sorry moderators!!) Friday was probably my last day at the firm. I simply had had enough when he started in on me. I fired off email response and cc'd COO - resulting in useless HR, Captain D and me in another shouting match where he denied everything - again. I then made the mistake (thought it a good idea at the time - WHAT WAS I THINKING!) of emailing the North America IT director. He had said at one time that he wished he could clone me, so I really thought he would jump in and offer assistance - nope. Just sent the email to our HR person and landed myself a pink slip. Left for the day with COO and Captain D behind closed doors but talking loud enough where I heard my name as I passed by.

Got all email correspondence printed off and copied to CD. Then asked Ms. useless HR lady to fire me after the first of July (for three years of outstanding service) to allow me one more month of benefits. I also stopped by one the partner's office that started Captain D's rage against me and let him know I would probably not be working here anymore since I stood up for him and what was best for him against my manager's orders. He said he wouldn't allow me to be fired - not going to hold my breath on that one, but it was a nice gesture.

Even if I am not fired, the damage is so irreparable that my life will be miserable times 10. Updating my resume this weekend and will start the search. Next Friday would have been my third year anniversary there and I would have received more of my 401K... plus I have a female procedure scheduled for that Friday and had already requested the 27th - July 3rd off. Had a SB CT Scan priced at $2,265 + fees for person to read (yes, I always call and ask what they charge) scheduled too. Won't be able to afford that without insurance darn the luck.

Nothing I can change now, so I am trying to just remain calm so I don't land myself at the ER with the master blaster of all flares. Just couldn't keep my big crohnie mouth shut.

Moral of the story: When you are in a great deal of pain/nausea and have a jerk for a boss, DON'T go into work that day.

Okay. So I awoke before 4:00 this morning. I am certain I am having a panic attack!! Now 5:25 and many bathroom runs later. My hands are all shaky and my heart is racing. I am so darn worried about going into work today. I want to just call in sick, but never do this unless the CD is unbearable.

Just sitting outside chain-smoking (yes, I know cigs are bad) and stressing (even worse). Though usually a very strong person, today I feel very weak and vulnerable. Would never have admitted this to anyone, but here I feel safe enough to bare my soul and just throw it all out there.

The pain and nausea is bad this morning too. I know it is from the stress. I have never been fired from a job. I cannot lose everything because I cannot make the bills while out of work.

Can't type any more... hand too shaky.

Hey Texan! I am thinking of you this morning. I hope everything goes well! While Captain D will still make your life hell it probably pisses him off so much that someone above him supports you. If they let you keep your job (since I don't really think they had cause to fire you anyway in my humble non-legal opinion) you should see about moving within the company to work for another lawyer or department. I skipped lamaze! Just tried meditation - why on earth did I ever stop that - cannot sit still or get my heart rate down.

What shall be will be - just NEVER been without work since age 16 (don't even ask how many years ago that has been). Okay. Time to stop the pity party. Ready or not here we go! This isn't life or death (trying to remind myself of this). If my mother could pull herself up off life support after three months (when she was not expected to make it), I can go in and face whatever Captain D throws at me.

Hey , Texan , You just have a little case of pre combat jitters, thats all. When you get to work look the SOB dead in the eyes and smile. I use to do that and I think it is worse on them than anything else you can do. Just remember the best revenge is to live a happy life...
