home bathroom products? cleaners, air fresheners, exhaust fans, etc.

while im sure that most of us [myself included] have supportive and understanding loved ones, i'd like to think i'm not the only person on this board that still likes to be considerate of the others in their household that are unfortunately forced to use the same facilities as us!

after i finish my 'business' i always go back and clean up the toilet bowl, underside of the seat, and any other areas that may have received collateral damage. i have D pretty much all the time so there's always a cleanup process that i follow so that the others don't feel like they're entering a battle zone.

i'd like to find an automatic toilet bowl cleaner that actually works, as well as an effective and pleasant air freshener to use.

i've also been doing a considerable amount of shopping for new bathroom exhaust fans. i hate that most of the ones that move the most air make the least amount of noise! i want mine loud and powerful to mask the sound and remove the noxious fumes.

any good/bad experiences, recommendations, etc... post em up here!

yeah, i have clorox disinfecting wipes in each bathroom in my house.

the matches thing has been around for a long time, but it does in fact work. i remember seeing people say 'ugh, somebody light a match!' when someone farts.

Your thread made me laugh just a little because my husband and I talk about it a lot. he is amzed that I can always tell the difference between normal bay day pooh and crohn's pooh when in a flare it is undeniable. Although he does not clean it up for himself that's my job (in sickness and health right) The wipes are great for quick jobs and comet that i leave in for 10 min and ev ery few days soak it with bleach

I know I go through about three cans of Fabreze and one can of Lysol a week! Thinking about purchasing stock in the Fabreze company. I also go in and bleach my toilet often. Like you, I have been looking at exhaust fans at Home Deopt. I want one with super power!

Ain't the crohnie balonie smell so darn sweet! Ya sure cannot mistake it.

i dunno where else i can ask these types of questions with the kind of sympathy and understanding that you all most certainly have!
my fiance and i are looking for a fan that moves the most air and makes the most noise. apparently, according to home depot the 'ideal' bathroom fan moves the most air and makes the least amount of noise-- but not for crohnies! we did manage to find one that maxed out the air flow gauge, and about 3/4 of the way up the noise gauge. woo!
i agree that the cirtus air fresheners tend to do a better job than the flowery ones. we have one of those square glass solid air freshener things in the powder room. it does a decent job when coupled with febreeze.

Too funny -

I just moved into a very very old house that does NOT have exhaust fans in the bathrooms. I am trying to figure out something that I can use to mask the noise while we figure out how to install the fans.

Any ideas? Running water does not help and without an exhaust fan, we have NO sound barriers. Help!

Well, this may sound silly but does anyone keep a white noise machine in the bathroom? I don't know how loud those things can go but maybe it would help. My house is 100+yrs. and does not have a fan either--it sucks--and the window is old too and a major pain in the butt to open or close. Plus, I would hate to put a fan in the window b/c the bathroom is the one room where even with a closed vent the heat/ac blast in there. I guess that's why I'm an incense/scented candle junky.

i have gotten much better with going in unfamiliar and public places but am getting better somewhat. i'm able to go at my workplace but i've found a somewhat secluded one. i used to work at best buy and NEVER went there except the private one for the car audio installers. :)

My SIL took had to take a microbiology class (for hygienist school) and they said toothbrushes should be at least 6ft. away or more than likely it will have fecal matter on it. Obviously, a good argument for using toothbrush covers!

Now I have to watch out for my tooth brush. Is this why I wake up with a crappy taste in my mouth. Talk about morning breath...I keep mine in the cabinet..I have enough problems.

Getting to them immediately is the best prevention, but I have been so sick that I bought a new toilet lid. I also have a high velocity shop fan in my bathroom.

my brother-in-law's mother came home from somewhere in the south with this little bottle of stuff called poop-pourri. you're supposed to spray it directly into the bowl before you go and it masks the odor. i just asked him if he tried it yet and he said no, but i suppose it's worth a shot!
