Talked with my doctor about getting a referral to a rheumatologist..

He didn't sound like he wanted to give me one... He said it wouldn't help me with my Crohn's problem (well, doi... I'm well aware that a rheumatologist doesn't handle gastrointestinal matters... It's the joint pain I'm wanting help with)... But I insisted... And I think I may just get one... I have to wait for the secretary to call back once an appointment has been set up...

I hope this means I can finally get things taken care of... And maybe the rheumatologist will better address my concerns regarding the avascular necrosis thing, too... *Still haven't gotten a MRI done on my hips....*

Oh... and he's upped the Prozac I'm on... Going from 20mg to 40mg. I probably wouldn't be so depressed if I wasn't having to deal with pain so much... :(... *But I'll take it, anyway... because I know I am depressed, and I want to feel better in that department, too...*

Celey- I think we have the same life right now. I went off my depression meds 'cause I ran out of money. I got my rheumy appt for Aug. 24. It takes forever to get in where I live. I have horrible hip pain too and my feet are still swolen on a daily basis. Craziness. Good luck and I hope you get an appt soon. (HUGS)

Hi Celey,
I hope you get an appointment soon, I was glad when I pushed my Gastro doctor for a Rheumy referral, after weeks of pain I was finally diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondilitis (due to the Crohn's) in I strange way I felt vindicated by this new diagnosis, it meant I was'nt just whinging.

Glad to hear you are finally getting your referral. Stay strong and don't back down with your Doc, no one should have to suffer. Good luck!

I can relate. I saw my PCP for a physical on Monday & asked her about a referral to a rheumy. She said she didn't think they could help me since I'm already taking Humira & that the rash I get in the sun is probably from the Humira. So she told me to wear long sleeves (in Texas during the summer) & called in an rx for a "great" new anti-inflammatory that is easy on the stomach. When I picked up the rx, it turned out to be an NSAID, with a big warning to not take it if you have ulcers. I called a rheumy the next day.
