Funny Crohn's related gifts you have received

I received a funny gift from a customer at my work last week and I thought I would share the story with fellow Crohnies and was wondering if anyone else had received any thing like this.

A regular customer- Maxine - that comes into my work once a week has an ostomy bag due to having had bowel cancer, she knows I have Crohn's and we enquire after each others health all the time. Two weeks ago Maxine came into work and called me over for what I thought was our usual chat and after saying hello she said, "Joanne, does your bottom hurt after you poo?" this took me aback, but I had to smile and I said " Sometimes it does because of my haemmroids" and then she said "I have this wonderful cream I get for free from the Cancer Council, I will bring you some in next week" as we were busy I thanked her and walked away smiling. I saw her husband  Pete (who has a wicked sense of humour) and said to him "Do you know I get lots of gifts from customers - chocolates, sweets etc, but your beautiful wife just topped my gift list with bum cream" he had a laugh and said thats my Maxi.

Last week when they came in I received a beautifully wrapped gift (my bum  cream) with a chocolate bar tied in the bow and the card read -  "We pamper you from top to bottom, Love Maxi and Pete". When I stopped laughing I thanked them for one of the most unusual gifts Ive every received. Joanne

The last couple of times I've gone in for my Remicade the nurse has given me stuff.  In March the other patient and I were raving about how much we loved Calmoseptine, and she heard us.  She brought us both goodie bags with samples of Calmoseptine, a cleansing cream I haven't tried yet, and pens.  Last week she gave me a nice lap blanket with the Remicade logo stitched in the corner.  Maybe not as funny as SydneyJo's story, but I thought it was sweet and thoughtful.

I love that... from top to bottom, that is so cute. I also gotta know did you try the cream? if so does it work? Karen

Thats what I was meaning - the unusual things we get that only we appreciate and see the funny side to.
Mama Dove - I am lucky to have these people in my life and Maxine and Pete are only two of many that I love talking to. A lot of people who come into work are not as fortunate as myself, there are some customers who have Parkinsons (2), Leukamia, Diabetes and Arthritis, just to name a few. I love talking to them as they put my ailments into perspective and I geniunely am concerned for their welfare. We always have a laugh in the end about whinging about being sick and that makes them and I feel better.

Karendee - I had the misfortune this week to actually need to use the cream (my bottom hurt after pooing lol) and yes it was very soothing and seems to be doing the trick! I will have to give Maxine the feedback this week lol.

It's called Sudocream and comes in a little pot. The other cream she gave me (she gave me three, 1 Sudocream and two of the other) is Uni Derm. I used the Sudocream this week as it is a healing cream the Uni Derm is a moisturising cream. Maxine uses this around her ostomy bag. Jo

This is old hat but I used to have fun w/one of those fake spongey cowpies my hubby gave me years ago. Every once in a while w/a new friend who's learned I have Crohn's I'll climb outta the car reallllll carefully and turn away and maybe hold my shirt or coat behind me funny - and leave that fake cowpie on their car seat.

Last time I was in hospital my best friend brought me the most wonderful air deodorizer. She knows how much it bugs me to be remembered for that lingering bouquet of eau de toilet. Even though the hospital -- of course -- has a no scents policy, none of the staff raised a stink about masking the stink.
