Does anyone know if there is any form of government aid for crohns in the USA.

Perhaps you could be a bit more specific, Guru. Do you mean access to hospital care; access to high-cost medications; a disability pension; community care; something else?

i'm unable to work unless i work from home at the moment, which is crazy for me because i have always lived my life on the road and i loved it. i do not have enough money for the high cost of medicine, i got prescribed some steroids before and it was like a grand for a 2 month supply.

everything that you said i would like to know an answer to, any form of help for Crohns, because I'm thinking about going back to USA, if i know i can get a little help.

Unfortunately the disability process is several months to several years long. And you have to be sick enough to qualify.

What meds are you currently taking for your crohns?

A grand for 2 month supply is highway robbery (What kind of steriod was it?). 200 pills of 50 mg prednisone should be about 50 to 80 dollars.

What kind of work do you do?

Did you pay into the social security system?
For how long?
How old are you?

There are free clinics but it take months to get a referral to a gi that would work with them.

Are you a Veteran? If you are you can apply thru the VA.

Do you still have active citizenship in the US? Which state? Is this where you would come back to?

We need to know more about your background benefits vary from state to state.

However you can find prescription assistance thru the drug manufacturer. Like if you need remicade or humira.

i forget what steroid it was but it was about 500 dollars for 2 month supply, sorry it was late when i was posting that.

i would be coming back to Washington state or California ,Washington is where i live before i came to china and lived there for about 7 years and California before that.


I"m 31 ,yes i paid into SS sometimes, I think about 6- 8 years i paid into it. I am an American citizen. I am not a veteran. My work has always been in sales and marketing management and program development.

I am not taking nothing now i have tried a few thongs and none of them mad me feel much better, some made me feel worse so now i am just on diet medication. I'll try to contact the my DR in usa and ask what steroid they subscribed me before.

i'm guessing it was entocort. That is very pricey!

Still endocort at canada drug is $558 bucks for 300 pills. That is the only thing I can think of too Fitzy.

Ok I think it is pretty obvious that you do need to get on some meds, unfortunately it is a trial and error process it can take months before a med is at theraputic dose in your body. It took 5 different meds and more then two years to get any sort of control over my crohns. Please check out our crohns resource page at the top of the forum for info on different meds info.
