Ok, I am embarrassed!

Out of curiosity, what kind of prep have you all been told to do regarding the pill cam test?  I was told no food after 12:00 noon the day before the test, and only clear liquids up until 6:00 pm and absolutely nothing after 6:00.  I followed the directions and I got a copy of my report and I was not "cleaned out". 

Has anyone else been given this prep?  Or have they had you do the same prep you do for a colonoscopy? 

I am embarrassed about this.  If I had known I still had "stuff" in there, I would have gotten some phosphosoda.  While the test did succeed in showing Crohn's in my small intestine, it never made it to the large.  The weird thing is I passed the camera that evening--you would think it would have made it, but I guess not.  Also, for a few days before the test, I had the big "D" a few times a day.

The report also said that everywhere there was not "food" there was evidence of Crohn's.  I figure either I have a fair amount of Crohn's or had a fair amount of "food."  Guess I will have to wait until I see the GI next month to find out.

If I have to ever have the test again, I am going to ask about better prep! 

I can't take the prep (that gallon of nasty stuff) the Drs want me to so I do my own thing. I change my diet to all clear liquids the day before, drink lots and lots of water and the evening before the procedure (colonoscopy/pill-cam) I drink 2-3oz of the nasty phosphosoda chased with water then I plan to have a good book in the bathroom for the rest of the evening.
I can drink water, I just can't drink that jug of nasty stuff. Changing my diet the day before also helps to clear everything out. I hate starving myself.
You followed the Dr's directions, you are NOT at fault for poor test results! Heck, my Dr told me I couldn't eat after 6pm the evening before but I could go out and have breakfast right after taking the pill-cam. Nurse told me I still couldn't eat until the afternoon. Grrr. Like I said, I just HATE starving myself!

yeah, don't blame yourself. You did what was asked of you and that's all they can expect.

After several scopes of taking the prep and phosphosoda and throwing it back up, I still to this day can't even think about drinking that stuff without my mouth watering in that gross way. Any way the last 4 or 5 scopes I have had no complaints. about 3 days before I eat no meats, soft foods only, 2 days before the procedure I start with eating only noodles or rice and clear broths, 1 days before nothing but water, alot of water, I take about 5 stool stimulants in the early evening, then again 4 hours later, clean as a whistle. Then the nearest burger joint when the procedure is over. Anyone ever go into a procedure and your doc comes in feeding his face? Trust me it sucks
