Prednisone and memory loss.

I have been on a daily dose of 5mg prednisone for about 9 months now because nothing seems to work except the prednisone. I just had a colonoscopy and all polyps were benign and no sign of active crohns. So my doctor told me to see him in 4 weeks and im sure he will want to wean me off then.
The real scary thing was that tonight I started to walk over to the neighbors house , who I might talk to only a few times a year and for the life of me I could not remember their names as I approached them and then all of a sudden it came to me. Can prednisone do this and will the memory get better as I get off of it? I am 55 and on blood pressure pills, prilosce, pantaza and prednisone.

Im 35 and my memory is gone. Well, no where near as vivid as it was before prednisone. Ive been on it for 2 yrs. I take 5 mg. daily and 40-50 when im flaring. I am also taking imuran. This topic has been posted many times b4 hehehe.

I have the same problem lately my wife keeps giving me crap for not listening to her but i just can't remember what she says sometimes. I glad i'm not the only one. If anyone esle has this problem on pred.. let us know..thanks.

Memory is bad on it and off of it!! LOL I always blame it on my son and say he took all my brain cells when I gave
birth to him!!! LOL

The pred seems to mess with my eyesight the most. I have had issues with memory and it drives my poor Hubby batty when I can't remember. I'm usually very, ...um, what were we talking about?....

Me too as well it got better off it but now that i'm on it, its driving me nuts sometimes.

I have been on and off of prednisone pretty consistently the past two years. I have never experience memory loss with prednisone.

Remicade, however, has been a different story for me. I am DEFINITELY more flighty and have definitely forgotten things while on Remicade.

I was going to answer you but I forgot the question. I also think that the stuff they knock you out with for a scope does that too..

I just stepped down from 5 mg of prednisone to 2.5. I have noticed memory issues while being on this drug and I have to write everything down. I also don't seem as mentally "organized" if that makes sense.

I have also noticed a change in my vision while on the prednisone.

wow i didnt know it could do that i havent been on it for a few years now but i do get memmorie loss and was told by my doctor it was due to low b12, now i get injections every 3 months and im fine although when there almost due i start to see myself slipping a bit. hope ive helped some how good luck
