okay, so i've gone through the usual once in a while blood in the stool and ive been in a very bad flare for a long time now, but today was different. i though that there was a little improvement from humira, but today i got these really severe pains in my stomach all over from chest area to bottom and i had a few very painful but hardly productive bowel movements (if you know what i mean) and then just a little while ago i had the urge again and went and was in very bad pain just to find that i passed a lot (more than i ever have) or blood. it was bright red and clotty with tissue. im wondering if this could be something more than the norm? any ideas?

i know if i call the doc he's just going to say go to the hospital which is another thousand dollars i dont need to spend

I bled like that, it was from an ulcer up in my TI that was hemmoraging. The blood was coming out so fast it didn't have time to turn dark, so it was also bright red. I ended up being hospitalized for 3 days, they had to go in and stop the bleeding through colonoscopy (no prep either).

I ended up losing half of all the blood in my body, and it all happened quite quickly. So if you keep bleeding in large amounts, I wouldn't fool around with it. Can be quite dangerous.

Have you been taking any NSAIDS lately?

um i dont think so because i dont know what NSAIDS are haha. but yeah im nervous its a hemmorage because that was my first instinct...

I'm pretty sure it's a thousand dollars you need to spend if it's a question of health...I know it's expensive, and I get really nervous about hospital bills but I would rather pay the money and be healthy than save it for...what is the point if you can't function? Wouldn't it be better if you were okay? It's just worrisome that's all...not trying to be rude at all. Just worried for you :( I'd look into getting some ultracet or something too just until you can figure out what the best plan for you is. At least you'll be able to function a little better and get some rest. It sounds like you need it.

yeah thanks, whats ultracet?

i definitely need something though because ive been in really severe pain at times and can't rest/sleep but am really tired.

It's a really effective pain pill. You take it every 6 hours or as needed, and believe me it seriously helps for those times that you just can't take it. There are too many times where all I could do was cry to try and distract myself from the pain/blood loss/etc. so the doctor prescribed it and I actually can get a decent few hours of respite. It sounds like you definitely need that right now..

thanks so much at least i have a name of a pill now because im going to the doctor tomorrow and another thursday and i was going to ask about pain relief pills. um do you get it through your GI or PC

I only see my GI at this point, and he's pretty understanding of the need for the pills so...I hope yours will get you something asap! Percocet is another option but honestly both have worked really well.

Oh, NSAIDS are things like aspirin, motrin, aleve ect.. We are supposed to only have Tylenol as far as the over the counter stuff goes. Things like aspirin can make bleeding worse for us. I was taking aspirin for headaches when my GI bleed happened for instance.
