   Greetings....

       I'm kinda new to this forum, but not to crohn's. Was dx'd Jan 2000 and have been living a nightmare ever since. Recently my G.I. referred me to a dermatologist to see about these sores that I have had on my lower legs. The dermatologist dx'd me with pyoderma gangrenosum. I'm still not utterly convinced that is what I have, but I'm not a doctor either ha ha. The pain that i have  not only comes from the sores, but in my muscle, joints, tendons[espcially my achilles tendon], and bones. The pain most of the time is unbearable and am womdering if anyone has similar symptoms and if they have.... have you found a treatable form of pain management.. My doctors try to keep me relatively pain free, but this past summer has been the worst so far. I am 33 years old walking around with a cane. Talk about embarassing. To add to my list.. I have also had 27 inches of sigmoid removed, a distal hernia repair from the removed colon[ it was the size of a softball], and 3 fistula's which have been drained, but keep coming back!!! They hurt like hell, but nothing like my leg. Also i have already done 7 rounds of remicade with marginal results. Need Some Help Please...

Are you on cipro? On of your complaints sounds a bit like a side effect of cipro. See: https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=17&m=1176764

Hello SouthPaw! This all sounds horrible! I'm sorry you are going through this. I remember other posts about this condition so I suggest you use the "Search Site" tool. I hope you find relief soon!!

Lyn "Howlyncat" & also Curley suffer with PG. Hopefully one of them will be along soon to shares some thoughts.

    hi there keeper... no not on cipro. My g.i. didn't think it was a good idea with my blood work coming back as low as it was. I regularly have gastro bleeds and have to be constantly monitored. they are considering humira if my lupus test come back negative.

I had pretty awful PG. The first episode on my left leg was treated w/ IV prednisone and antibiotics. The high doses of steroids nipped it in the bud but took a couple weeks. The 2nd was worse and the steroids didn't help. I ended up having to go on cyclosporine and it eventually cleared it up after 4 months or so..........it was a horrible time in my life...one I hope to never revisit. I do suggest that drug if yours isn't clearing up. I was 21-22 at the time...now I am 30. Good luck!

Hi Southpaw - with your fistulas they must be trying some kind of antibiotic, no? The achilles tendon issue is a new warning for cipro and levaquin and possibly some other related antibiotics. There is the potential of tearing of that tendon which is not a good thing. You should check out the thread that I listed above if any of that sounds familiar - just copy it and paste into the address bar of your browser. You may want to ask about alternatives.
