I've been on Humira for about
8 months. For the past two months, I've been to the ER twice... once for pleurisy and another time for the worst headache ever. My joints are swollen and achy, I'm tired, my mouth is full of sores, my eye is inflamed, my head hurts, and it hurts to get out of bed. My Crohn's has been fine - it's everything else that's bothering me. I never had any of these symptoms with my flares... it's always been the usual abdominal pain and nausea/vomiting.
Now, my lungs are aching again, so I'm assuming the pleurisy is back. I'm waiting blood test results from a rheumatologist, and I'm going to see my GI on Friday.
I'm so confused. I don't know if I'm getting arthritis, lupus, or what. I'm also scared of this pleurisy issue. It hurts so bad.
Has anyone else had any of this happen while on Humira? I thought this was supposed to help people with joint problems! UGH!

Have they run blood tests checking for lupus antibodies? It is simple enough to check for those and if I were you, I would insist they order such tests. If the rheumy included those in his recent order, then you should know soon enough if that is the problem.
I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. I was there once - had a severe reaction to Humira that took over 6 weeks to recover from.

ooh--My left eye is giving me lots of trouble. I thought it was the dry beach air. I get the joint aches on and off. Wow. I hope you get some answers soon--I agree about
asking for the blood test!
