  well IF ya noticed i was gone for 2.5 days.. i was in the hospital.  yep me , the guy that nothing happens too!

  seems my feeling unwell last weekend was only the beginning. you know fever, faited, etc... well on wednesday night after dinner the black poop appears. i think to myself, this aint good, all night it continued till i got up and went to the dr. he was busy so i passed him a note saying, "randy has a GI bleed going on"  he came rushing out and sent me to the ER where things progressed till the ambulance took me to the local big Army hospital. hematocrit still 40 so no big worry till it started dropping after getting a couple liters of fluid. scoped me friday noon, lasered the ruptured deuodnal ulcer, and let me go home today (sat afternoon) gotta take 4 prilosec a day in addition to my 300mgs of ranitidine. anyway got some cool pics of the before and after ulcer spot so i have to figure out how to scan them and get them to beta to put on the website!at least it did not cost me anything but a couple days in bed.  thank goodness for military and VA insurance. BTW one of the nicest hospitals i ever been in. its 15 years old but its like new. and nurses in camo just do something for me! will check in later i got to eat , havent eaten since wed.    randy

I agree with Roni - we need a cure for you! I first learned of your story a few years back when I was researching crohn's / surgeries online. I, for one, am fascinated by your pics. I regret not getting photos of my own surgery.

Sure hope this is a fix for all the trouble you have had. Maybe this is why you have had the fever??? Hope so. Anyway. Have a good meal and get to feeling better soon.

hey momikins, you can get a simple test at your drs that takes 1 minute to tell if its blood or not.. you could do it right there in the office..

as for the color black, im talking BLACK, like in th oppossite of white, as in the entire bowl is black. since i knew what this was and had had it happen before, i went right in once i was sure it hadnt stopped.

ides, if only we had known huh? so close but yet so far, BTW it only took me 5 minutes to get my meds at the pharmacy saturday! they give ya a special line if your getting discharged! but oh the death looks i got from the other 100 people waiting!

(((Randy))) Geesh sorry to hear that. I sure hope they get you feeling right as rain soon. I take it the voo doo bones and chicken foot didn't do the trick, huh? LOL Maybe Sniper has more ideas to get you better or maybe its best you stay with the VA docs. Probably a little safer. HA! Really do hope you get feeling better soon.

Glad your home Randy! I had exactly that happen to me too, bleeding ulcer up there. Mine was all bright red though, coming out sooooo fast! I thought all was going to be okay, until I realized it just took a few hours before my blood tests started to show the major blood loss. Man, that stinks. What fun we have to go through!

Maybe this is finally the answer to all the fevers and troubles of late? Sure do hope you are feeling better soon!

thanks everyone.. slept most of the day away today.. as for solving my fever problems , i doubt it. i think thats a whole 'nother can of worms.

Hi Randy were you having pains with your black BM? Sure hope your feeling better what if anything did they say about your blood ,I persume they took some blood? Well you got another job done there hope it's less work on the bod for you now. lol gail

gail, oh did they take blood! no naswer yet the serology is not back. as of today. when they took more blood.

see my GP on the 28th. HMOM, why would you need a roundabout? it will just confuse the hippies!

as a side note when i went for my appointment today, i was told that one of my nurses was almost in tears when she heard i was in the hospital last week. and she kinda welled up today when she saw me. what a warm feeling. that someone can care so much even though we only see each other twice a month for 10 minutes. :0)....
