Pain returning after resection, how long?

For those of you who have undergone bowel resection, how long was it before your abdominal pain returned?  I had my terminal illeum/right colon removed in january and in the last few weeks have had my abbominal pain return.

I had mine in 2006 and haven't had any major pain since. I did have some small bowel obstruction pain but was able to work through them quickly in one or two days.

Early May 2008 I had about 6" of my descending colon resected.  Some pain returned about 7-9wks after surgery, but it has been decreasing.  I seem to only feel it when there is 'waste' in there.  As soon as I 'go', the pain (more like discomfort) is gone.  Perhaps you are feeling your nerve endings reconnecting and they will get used to things and return to pain free soon...?

I had 2 sections taken out (about 7 feet) small bowel resection when I was 19.

I am now 36, it has not come back.

Occasional bouts, I think that are due more to scar tissue of reconnection of the bowel then the actual CD.

Either way its been a number of years, I have been on 6MP since the surgery and Remicade for I think the past ten years.

I had my resection in May 07. Felt great no pain, no substantial D. Actually felt the best I felt in 15 years. April 08 D was back with a vengence but I have had only slight pain and that has only been recently. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I had 18 inches of large and small removed in Aug of 07 and 2 weeks ago I had my first flare and it was a doozy......Hope you feel better soon!!

I had 2 resections with the last one in '85. The CD came back within a few mths. I've had it ever since. I nwo ahve a bad stricture from scar tissue and deep inflammation. Dr is sceptical of further surgery unless necessary because he doesn't want me to lose what digestion and absorption I have left. You're not alone! It was a bust for me.

I had my third resection this past April. My others were 18 years ago, and 18 years before that.

I had both a resection and removal of my gallbladder this time. It took quite a while before I felt some relief from the pain of the surgery. I'm still having D and cramps (sometimes pain). A camera pill scan showed that there is still inflammation and it's most likely caused by continuing chrohns. Although I had a stricture removed and am not experiencing the kind of blockages I was getting, I'm disappointed to still be experiencing chrohns symptoms. I was hoping for at least a short time of relief after the surgery.

I hate this DD!!!!!!!!!!!
