reoccuring yeast infections?????

This is a hard topic to post nd have been considering asking for a couple of days.  Okay, I have been having reoccuring yeast infections lately, on my 3 this year, and I am wondering if anyone else suffers from these.  I asked my doctor if it could be related to my IBD and he said it could be possible 'cuz my immune system in out of whack.  I am wondering if any of you other ladies have dealt with this.  I haven't had any "accidents" lately that could of caused irratations in that area and haven't been on any different meds..... any help or info would be appreciated. I get a yeast infection every time I am on antibiotics. I ask for a diflucan script when the doc hands me the antibiotic script. I get a yeast infection sometimes w/out antibiotics too, not sure why, but I know its annoying. I haven't had any problems with thrush, but I've seen posts where people do. Thrush is a yeast infection too, so maybe it is a CD thing. I just call for the diflucan, works every time!

I used to get yeast infections every few months. Ever since I started eating a yogart a day, I haven't had one in a really long time.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it but it's been working. lol

I haven't been taking my acidophilus regularly (oops), actually not at all for about a month at least, so I guess I should go back to trying that too.Thanks again.

I've had two in the past few months. One that only females can get and then one in the form of thrush. It's possible this may be the culprit(are we allowed to post links?):

Both of my doctors have prescribed diflucan in each case, and it seems to work well. They were both rather extreme cases too..nasty kind of infection really. I've stopped taking baths and only take showers since the vaginal yeast infection. My nurses told me that baths are pretty bad to cause that kind of yeast infection unfortunately...and I had been taking quite a few at the time because my previous apartment's shower only gave you literally about 2 and half minutes of hot water(which in my 6 months there maintenance would NEVER fix). But I digress...in any case, best of luck with getting rid of that horrible infection! I'm sorry you have that.

I was getting yeast infections all the time. I have a R/V fistula that none on my doctors have been interested in finding much less treating. Needless to say, I changed GYN and currently see the nurse practitioner who taught the classes when I was pregnant with my now 21 year old daughter. We have a history and I trust her. She put me on a daily anti fungal pill, that I increase the dose of if the symptoms increase. It works. No one is able to figure out exactly why, but it does and that is all that matters. Now one of my gi wants me to stop taking it, because he doesn't understand why its working, it doesn't make sense. I'll be happy to stop taking it, IF he wants to find the fistula, and find a medicine that will work to treat/cure it. But that isn't what he is offering. His offer is just for me to stop. So it is a non negotiable point for me. I'm currently on day 2 of antibiotics for sinus and ear infections and the R/V is starting to act up, so I have to up my dose of the anti fungal before the yeast infection gets out of control. I can already feel it start to brew......

I am so glad you all responded. It sure helps me feel better to know I am not alone in this. Now I have to start a new question about fistula's.

Are you certain its not Bacterial Vaginitis?

I've had several bouts with skin yeast infections after abscess operations.  Ouch!!  Diaper rash hurts.  One diflucan worked for a few days and then it would come back.  My Doc suggested I see an Infectious Disease Doc because of persistent infections in the abscess area, and when I told her about the yeasties, she wrote me a huge script for diflucan.  One a day for seven days and repeat this a week later if needed.  Yikes!!  But it worked.  Fortunately a second week wasn't needed.  Infectous Disease Docs know a lot about weird fungal and yeast stuff and she didn't blink about hitting it hard.  If you ever have something weird that your regular Docs can't figure out, see an infectious disease doc -- they are detectives and tend to think outside the box.
