About the (maybe) partial obstruction

It seems they want me to have surgery.  They are expediting an appointment for me to meet with the surgeon.  Maybe it is that my balloon dilation did not work and the stricture got more narrow.  I have not eaten in 4 days.  Liquid diet.  I tried ice cream today and got quite nauseous.  I wish they would give me pred or something to help at least calm it enough so I can eat.  Then again, maybe it is too narrow for me to eat.

I am weak, tired and frustrated.  I so wanted to avoid another surgery.  I so really hate crohn's!

I wish you good luck. Is there any way you can find out if the stricture is narrower because of scarring or because or inflammation - because inflammation can be brought down. Also I have found that ice cream is really terrible for me and can cause a big flare up i suppose it is the combination of dairy fat and sugar. exactly what makes it nice.

Penelope, usually ice cream is the one thing I can count on. My dr told me after the dilation that I have deep inflammation. It does not show up in my SED rate, plus lots of scar tissue. I've not found a way to stop the inflammation. We try to avoid pred & entocort as I don't respond well to either of them. They are set aside for emergencies only.

Pamela, I've not encountered that, with the exception of fibromyalgia itching.

Thanks Gail. Right now I am using Carnation Instant Breakfast. Between last night and this afternoon I have been able to get down 1 can of Chicken Noodle Soup. I'm only eating about 1/3 of a can at a time though. Not to mention it doesn't take much to fill me up after 5 days with no solid food. I wanted to lose a couple of lbs, but would have preferred a different approach! (lol)

My husband and I decided I should try to eat like a bird. A little bit, often. Of course I need to get to the point where I can eat to do this. Even with only the soup I am getting twinges though, so I would still be afraid to eat any real food, soft or not. My tongue is so disgustingly coated, yucky!

I am hoping I can put off surgery until the end of Oct. though. We run our own shop, and my husband runs a painiting/roofing bus. If I have to go in before that we would have to close up our shop and that owuld stress my poor husband no end. I'd hate to put that on him. He is so understanding and supportive.
