  I cannot belive, i am pregnant!!!! I am very anxious about my health issues, i have just saw my general pratice and we have discussed the medication that i am on, Imuran . I am a bit worry!!! I will call  my GI secretary today, if she  can get me an early appointment , otherwise i will see him on 14th of October. Please any advice of mummyies that are on imuran or had babies while on this medication it would be very helpful. Thanks!!!! I am very happy!!!! smilewinkgrin

38 years old, i am currently taken imuran 100mg, fish oil, probiotic, iron, folic acid

congratualations!  I have no knowledge of imuran, but wanted to give you some more happy thoughts!  I will be trying to get pregnant soon now that my flare is under control...although I would like to get off entocort first!  Congrats again!! :-)  Keep us posted!

There are mom's on here who have taken 6mp (sister med to Imuran), Pred, Remicade and Humira and all had healthy happy babies. I hope that brings you some comfort. Stef17, Inflamed, and Chastity are either pregnant or just had babies. Hopefully one of them will be along soon. Congrats!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy! I only took 6mp for a few weeks at the beginning of a pregnancy and then stopped for other reasons. BUT... my GI at the time told me that the data they had (in 2005/2006) showed that women who take 6mp/imuran during pregnancy have NO GREATER INCIDENCE of birth defects, complications, etc. than women who DON'T take it. This doctor is part of a large research team in Miami and is usually up on the latest info.

So, while I have no personal experience to provide, I can at least tell you what a reputable (in my opinion) GI had to say about it. There ARE several women on the boards who have had successful imuran pregnancies. Hopefully one or two of them will post soon. Again - congrats!

CONGRATS!! I have a one-month old and, although I did not take 6mp while pregnant I originally planned to. My GI and other doctors all okayed it, but I went off the med for other reasons before I got pregnant.

Don't stress yourself out too much about the what-ifs. I spent a lot of time worrying in the beginning, but had the perfect/healthy pregnancy, delivery and baby. I wish you the same.

Congratulations! Im also pregnant, 17 weeks-like you, i was very worried about my symptoms/meds etc but i've never felt so healthy! Pregnancy really seems to be suiting me-hopefully the same will happen with you! I don't know anyhting about your specific meds but im sure everything will be just fine, hope you have a very happy and healthy 9 months!xx

Thanks for all posts, i am over the moon with my pregnancy. My boyfriend mum's died, she was very special for him and i haved found out that i was pregnant when i returned home (london) from her funeral. It's a incredible coincidence, because i have been trying to get pregnant for while and just happened after a big lost of his life that it was his mother death. This pregnancy is bringing so much happiness for us, special for him.

Congratulations :) I've heard some Crohn's mothers say that they never felt better than when they were pregnant! Happiness aside of course.

Congratulations Krica!  That is great and exciting news!!!

I am not pregnant myself, but I am also on Imuran.  I just started it actually!

I'm 26 weeks pregnant. My GI took me off imuran but said it wasn't completely necessary. I'm on prednisone and pentasa now instead, plus probiotics, digestive enzymes, etc.

Studies show birth defects with higher doses of imuran, but it is generally considered fairly safe. There have been lots of successful pregnancies with imuran usage.
