You had your iron infusion done a week or two before I had mine (mine was done 10/6).  I was wondering how you are feeling now?  Have anymore energy?  I am 8 days out and still quite exhausted?  But the doctor did tell me it takes a couple of weeks for the iron to get into your bone marrow and start producing more blood. 

Also, was wondering if the iron infusion upset your stomach at all?  I had a pretty rough week lastweek, but am feeling much better this week.  Had alot of more frequent D (usually have more C) and some cramping, but things are better now.

Hope you are doing well.  Anyone else with any experience with iron infusions, I would appreciate your thoughts too.

I had 4 Venofer infusions in September. Unfortunately, they never do much for my energy though :(. They bring my hemoglobin up, but my ferritin levels always stay low.

Whenever I get my first infusion, I always have a reaction to it by that evening (chills, upset stomach, achy bones). It lasts for a few hours, then goes away. The second through forth infusions are fine though. This last time, they even gave me an anti-nausea injection to see if it would help, but by the evening, I still felt terrible.

Thanks Spookyhurst! At least I know I am not alone with the iron making me sick. It wasn't horrible, but I still felt pretty yucky until this past Sunday. Funny thing is, I take nausea meds every morning and every night, and still it didn't help much. I did the Iron Dextran infusion. I am a little disappointed to hear you are not feeling much more energy though. I am so tired of taking naps before I go to bed! HA!

I had 5 infusions last month and a follow-up infusion yesterday. I can't say that the venofer helped very much. Maybe a little but not a lot. I'm supposed to have an infusion monthly now.

I had my 4th of 8 venofer infusions today. I don't feel much better yet with the exception of the headaches lessening in strength. I'm glad about that because the headaches were awful..but I am still exhausted most of the time. And with a 5 week old baby and 3 year old, that sucks!! In the past it has taken a month or so after the infusion(s) for them to kick in so we'll see what happens in a few weeks.

Geesh that is disappointing to hear so many have not found any relief from the iron infusions. I was just hoping it would be like the doctor said and just take a few weeks for my body to make new blood. Oh well, I guess I will have to get used to taking my naps everyday before I go to bed:) And to stay away from the refrigerator magnets:)
