How many of us with IBD have had a hernia or have one ?

As I have joined the list of people with hernia's I am wandering if this is a common thing for people with CD .Did you have one after bowel surgery or before? What symnptoms did you have besides the bludging? Do you think surgery is the best course of action if you are not having pain? Was it big or small ? Thanks for info.lol gail

I found out i had one after my first colonoscopy , but have had no pain or problems with it-also have crohns.

I have a major hernia due to the emergency surgery that I had. I had to have "open wound" healing because my bowel resection fell apart & I got peritonitis. I am scheduled to have the hernia repair (and possible reversal of my ileostomy) on November 3rd.

During my last hospital visit (2 weeks ago), I was told that I have a periumbilical hernia. If they didn't tell me, I wouldn't have even known. Docs didn't act as though it was a big deal or anything.

Hey misery loves company here and although I sympathize I'am glad I'am not alone. Bloosom sounds great maybe getting your ostom. reversed. I did read your other post so please keep us updated. lol gail

Thanks for your support LOL gal . . . . I will keep you all posted.  To tell you the truth, I'm terrified of another surgery (since that bowel resection went so bad), but I have lots of folks praying (if they are the praying kind) and sending me healing thoughts . . . This forum has been really wonderful in terms of hearing other stories and knowing that I am not alone!!
