Just wanted to ask what you guys do to treat it and if it the same treatment  as someone who doesn't have crohns? lol gail

Weeell, I do nothing. When it gets too bad (as in the hemorrhoid flares) and that's usually caused by going a billion times a day; I grab a box of baby wipes. Sounds weird, but after uh, the tp portion, use the wipes. It helps to soothe the hemmie. At least that's what I can do. Then again, I don't have an inner hemmie. Mine's outer which I assume makes a difference.

Hi Joie Thanks but I.am not going alot and getting a little throbbing from them .Forgot to ask my Dr. when I went and with all the other things that go with CD find I sometimes forget to ask things.lol gail

Ya, you would treat them the same as a healthy person with hemmies would...if yours are really bad then your GI can probably give you cortifoam rectal meds which will likely help get rid of them.

Note that infrared photocoagulation is highly effective at treating hemorrhoids; very little or no pain, no blood, no knife, no "down time." Simply an office visit, get treated, get back to work. It takes 7-8 treatments, and they're expensive but simple- and frequently covered by insurance.

Also note there are some folks that advocate the idea that hemorrhoids are caused by- or influenced by- overconsumption of wheat.

Well, I am sorry that you are dealing with the pains in your.....well.... you know.

 

I have to give thanks where it is due: Keah told me about this about 4 years ago and I SWEAR by it.

 

Rutin. 500mg. Daily.

 

Worth it, period!

 

It's apparently used to treat vericose(sp?) veins. Which hemmies are, in reality.

 

I hope it works for you. Might want to also ask about viscous lidocaine or proctosol rectal cream. I have found relief from all of these "products"

When I had hemmies my doctor prescribed a suppository called anucort.  It was very soothing, and I think it brought some of the swelling and inflammation down, but they never went away.  Mine were really bad though, so I'm not sure if anything could have gotten rid of them completely.  Avoid surgery unless you absolutely have to.  It was extrememly painful.  With Crohn's, I think most surgeons would be reluctant to do it anyway.
