Lady Q for a colonoscopy

Oh help I've waited ages for this colonoscopy.  Tomorrow (Monday) I start the prep for it for Tuesday and now I think I might be starting my period.  Difficult to tell at the moment because I have an enterovesical fistula.  Will they still be able to do it? should I wear a tampax if so and can I take paracetamol.  I'm gutted I'm so desperate for the operation and they won't do it till after this.  Does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure Doctors are used to encountering women having their cycles when coming in for procedures. Call the Dr office on Monday, tell them what is going on with your body and ask them what you should do; pad or tampax or whatever. I don't see how having a period will make any difference when having a colonoscopy procedure, they are two different areas. The only problem is the 'logistics' of how to handle your Aunt Flo to cause the least amount of embarasment for all involved.

I just looked up paracetamol because I didn't know what it was. I would think it should be okay, but you'd be best to call the Dr office and ask them for sure.

Thanks Heidi, I appreciate your reply it was a long wait overnight and till 10.00 today to find out as thats when they open. 

Just incase any one else might need to know it is fine I can still go ahead so thank goodness for that I just want it over with and hope beyond all hope they hurry up with the surgery now even though I'm terrified of that!

Yeah it is fine to have a colonscopy at the same time you are having your period. Just let them know.

Although I would go with a pad, not a tampon that they would have to remove.

Yes, ive had one during a period and im pretty sure i wore a tampon
