sigh well im hafing a major freak out bout things,i start my new job tom and in true crohns fashion im in one major flare,this job is really important to me and i cant miss out on this opportunity,its so frustrating i just want to concerntrate on my job and training and not have to worry if im going to crap my pants at work and try to manage a 7.5 hour day on a liquid diet,while taking pred which  makes my face swell up and mkes me look all ***ed up,im sure theres going be some retard hus gonna ask me "whys your face all fat?" which will prolly mke me cry coz i got mental on pred also ill get hugge again and i prolly wont fit into ne of my new wrk clothes xcept a skirt i got which is all super strectchy GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *pulls at hair* Stupid crohns :(

Good luck eva124. One thing I tell myself when I'm stressed about the impact CD has on my work performance is that everyone brings something different to the job and everyone has issues that prevent them from doing their best. Not very helpful I know but try to see where you can bring value. I sometimes joke to my wife that I'm paid to show up, any positive contribution I make is gravy.

Deep breath... you can do this. I was in the same boat a little over a month (??) ago. I got some of the dissolvable B12s and took them throughout the day, in addition to the multivitamin, nausea, pain and sedatives. I looked for a bathroom that was the least used on my floor. After a few days my boss noticed I wasn't looking that great. I smiled and said no worries, it's just Crohn's. This will not interfere with my work. This got a positive response from her. Remember to smile through the pain and nausea and clinch those butt cheeks! :) I always carry extra clothes in my Jeep... just in case.

You will be fine... I promise!

Eva, I have started 2 news jobs in the last year and both times a huge flair. (The first job was Sept 2007 and only stayed there 6  mos the boss was awful, yelling etc and the job was terrible so I am sure it made my flair worse) Try to relax and not worry so much stress sure makes me go to the bathroom more.... I think with some preparation you will be ok. maybe you can try some anti diarrheals if your doc lets you take them. Make excuses for the liquid drinks all day like you don't like to eat a heavy lunch etc... Good luck and I hope your first day went well!!! Karen

No one is going to ask you why your face is fat? They would have to be a total idiot!! Have you ever been asked that by a stranger before? I can't imagine anyone would be that dumb. And think about it this way, if they notice or ask it is because it is clearly not just normal overweight person fat. They know you aren't ugly and just have something medical going on. No one asks a random overweight person at a buffet why they are fat right? So if someone asks it is because they know it is just not "you." That is your chance to say the one word everyone in the world understands - Prednisone. Everyone I know has known someone on it for some reason at some time. You would probably get lots of sympathy. Take lots of immodium, scope out the bathrooms and if it makes you feel better just do as Texan did and just casually be like "yeah I'm fine, its just my CD."

work was ok i didnt eat while i was there,the toilets were small and busy as but i guess if i dnt go thru a break it will b ok,thou they did smell nice lol and its also an added vantage if they are really noisy,just did introductions etc today it was actually really boring thou im complelty wasted lol

also fitzy someone did ask y my face was so fat......thou i do forgive the person coz shes kinda few crayons short of a pack,but still just wasnt in the mood,also it weirds me out at wrk like all the girls are tiny.....like as big as me and im sick,i thort it wld be odd if i didnt eat at wrk but everyone else doesnt eat at lunch.....very sad indeed,cant wait til im better and i can start hafing my steriod fueled lunches

Chill girl friend. If someone asks why your face is round just ask why their nose is so big and in your business. Quiet toilets are no problem, bring a book and drop it or slam it shut when the time is right. Hand and a,,uh,,eye coordination is crucial here. As for pulling your hair,, from what I see on most ladies today, that look is in fashion

My brothers are all very tall men (the shortest is 6 foot 5 inches tall) they get asked all the time if they play Basketball.
I have a t-shirt made for all of them and it has a tall man looking down at a short man and the quote is "No. Do you play minature golf?"
Now, we just got to come up with something like that for us chubby crohnies.
(fitzy, obviously you have never been fat. :) )

Sniper those are good tips! I may have to borrow some of them.... Navy I love that T shirt you talked about . that is funny. I am overweight and most people say stuff around my back. There are a select few that have no manners and think they are helping and say it to my face. Karen

i know exactly how u feel about people asking why your face is so puffy..i freek out about it all the time..whats weird about me is that my face is fat and my body is skinny..i havent gained alot of weight on pred cuz i was on no food in the hospital while i was on it and i lost 22 pounds before that!...my favorite thing to say to those rude people is that i'm really really really sick, i have a terrible disease which gives me constant pain, and it's a side effect from the medicine i'm on..it makes them feel like crap if you say that :) puts them in their place..serves them right for being nosey and asking a stupid question like that! i hate ignorant people!

Today one of my co workers said " your face has slimmed down" then I said thanks, then she said " BUT YOU STILL HAVE SOME HIPS ON YOU"


True story and I was never fat before prednisone in fact I was a 2 she is a 0 or smaller and this has been hard enough without that comment
