Today was the the next for my humira shot so I got the needle in but overreacted and pulled it enough to make a larger than normal hole in my leg while squirting the medicine all over my desk. Has anyone had this happen to them? I feel like a class A fool, and I'm worried about waiting yet another two weeks for my next shot. I swear I should just request the syringe if this happens again(heaven forbid).

I always have my mom do it, because I know I couldn't hold the needle in for 10 seconds. However, this last time we had a small problem. Usually I lay in bed, and my mom sticks the needle in the leg closest to her (holding it down of course). But this time, she stuck it in the leg furthest from her. The leg she wasn't holding down did a little jump (I didn't even notice) which almost made her pull the pen out of my other leg too fast. We lost a little medicine. That pen hurts so bad that any other needle pricks I get are hardly even noticeable anymore.

Hi Cain't help with suggestion but sorry about your med. Get some bungie cords and tie that leg down .Good luck with your next one. lol gail

I messed up the first one. First call your doc and tell him or her as s/he might be able to arrange for another shot. And/or call humira. They are usually good for at least one replacement.

Switch to the syringe-it was so much easier for me and it was even less painful. Especially in the stomach area. I did the same thing as you and it was better with the syringe!

Call Humira...   I did the same thing once.   They are pretty understanding.

Hi,

I used to have to inject enbrel into my leg once a week so I remember how annoying it is. Here are a few tips that help

prick along possible injection site with your nails until you find an area that seems to feel it less, this past has less nerve endings and will thus hurt a little less

Freezing the area before injection can make it less painful

slow steadied counting like when your angry lol helps calm you down while still timing how long you keep the needle in.
