Am I cured of Crohns??

 I'll try and make this short.  I was diagnosed in Nov. of 2007.  Had ulcerations in colon and rectum, and possible tiny anal fistula.  I had reactions to every med until Humira, which made me feel much better in February of 2008, and had no further problems.  Had to stop Humira in July because of low WBC. But still no problems with colon.

I just had a colonoscopy and everything looked totally clear with all ulceration cleared up.  The dr. said that the biopsy showed "No chronic inflammation"- No crohns.-Okay?  So he calls my first dr (he is my 2nd) who did my first colonos. and gets the biopsy and pathology report, along with my current biopsy and path report and send s them to a specialist to be read.  The specialist says that the first report was read wrong and that there was no "Chronic Infl." either.  So that when i was first diagnosed it may have a bad infection instead of crohns, because its not showing crohns now and it was misread the first time. So my dr says it was either totally cleared up or that i never had it in the first place.  Anyone have any ideas??? He said it may come back in the future-we'll just have to wait and see, but i dont' need meds or anything right now.  Anyone have an idea????

There is no cure, but perhaps you were orginally misdx or you are in remission. I would be very cautious with thinking the misdx route, without have a couple of different opinions. I think vigilence is a good idea right now.

Good Luck Miss 3. All i know is that I had terrible ulcerations and now they are gone and the biopsy is showing no crohns. This all happened to me in the course of 1 year. I never had any bad problems before that. I can only hope that maybe i was misdiagnosed, but i'm also a realist.

yes i did , and i didn't know what was wrong. I initially started with horrible rectum pain. When they did the scope they found a really bad area in the rectum and a couple in the colon. After that i went to another dr becasue i didn't like the one i had and he thought he saw a very small anal fistula. I started to get a little better, and then felt completely better with the humira. I got off it in June and have felt fine ever since. I don't know what kinf of infection could have caused all of that if it wasn't crohns (?)

That is actually a fear of mine, that they won't find anything wrong suddenly with a colonoscopy. Then take away my diagnosis. I've heard that happen to others, they get pulled off their treatments and then flare up later on.

I'm sure that it happens that some are misdiagnosed, but I think they should be more careful to realize sometimes we can just be in remission OR the inflammation is in places they can't see with that precious scope of theirs!

a simliar thing happened to me. I was diagnosed with much ulceration, friability, inflammation through colonscopy, ctscan and sbft. a few months later all was gone and has never been seen again with many tests. my main issue was pain, and that pain continued. I had two surgeries to cut adhesions and that helped some pain and I gave up gluten and now feel fine. I have one GI consider me in remission, the other says it was never crohns. I really don't even think in terms of crohns anymore. I figure I feel great and that is enough. actually, there have been many people come thru here with similar stories. I know once you have CD you have it, but I really think there are ways for the symptoms to show and be something else. my GI agrees. glad you feel good! yp
