I was attached to my nurse and she is now gone, darnit!

I called my GI's office today to talk to his nurse about getting a Vicodin refill called in. The receptionist informed me that she is no longer there. shakehead  

I just talked to her 3 weeks ago so I had no idea! The new nurse took the call and gave me attitude from the start but I'm going to try and give her the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I need a good relationship with the nurse. We all know how important that is!

I have every intention on finding out why my GI ran off my favorite nurse, though tongue   I liked her so much and she was a lifesaver for me several times in the last 2 years. My GI is fantastic and I have no intentions on finding a new one, even if the new nurse sucks, but part of why I liked him was he had a fantastic nurse that I had bonded with.

Do you love your nurse? Does anyone have a great GI with a not-so-great nurse? I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst care scenerio ;)

I LOVE my GI, but his nurses aren't the greatest. Some are polite and all, but when they need to bring messages to him, they aren't always the best and sometimes I have to get good and mad just to get my meds refilled.

My GIs nurse used to be terrible to me, she never returned my phone calls, or when I would get ahold of her she would say she would call me back...then never would, and she just had a nasty attitude in general. Until my Mom called her one day and ripped her a new one, now they treat me and my mom like gold when we go in for appointments, and they always return our calls :) haha.

Both my GI and his nurse, who has been with him for some years, are excellent, always responsive, etc. As i have posted here before, he'll be retiring in a few years (he says 4, though maybe sooner) and it's going to be a hassle finding someone new, since he has treated me since he first diagnosed me 27 years ago. And yes, sometimes having a good attentive office nurse is even more important than the GI, since the nurse is often the gatekeeper when we call.

Yes- I can relate. I had (well she is still there) great nurse for my research study. NOw, I do not see her much anymore bc the study has ended. I feel bonded with her and still visit her on occasion. It is improtant to feel connected with your nurse especially since you talk to them more than the doctor often.
