wisdom teeth removal/tonsilectomy and crohns???

Hey Navy....how are you doing???

I had my tonsils out in 4th grade and my wisdom teeth out my first year of college. I was not diagnosed until 4 years after the wisdom teeth. However, I know I showed signs as early as between 5 and 12 years of age. I can not think that I have a link between the two.

I haven't had my tonsils out. I had my wisdom teeth removed after I was diagnosed with crohn's.

My tonsils were never a problem when I was a kid. However, in the last few years they have enlarged and gotten very "crypty" and full of pockets. They never hurt, so I don't know what's going on there.

Still have teeth and tonsils but here's something I DO find pretty interesting. When I'm starting to flare, my tonsils sort of swell. The back of my mouth/throat that can be seen gets sort of pocket like. I KNOW food gets caught in the pockets and can (sorry for the ew factor) create suction in my throat/mouth to get the food particles out (also causes bad breath for which no amount of brushing and flossing and gargling will get rid of unless I get the food out). I noticed this years ago when I was sick for six months before I ended up having all those surgeries and whatnot. I'd feel itching toward the back of my throat and look and see white specks on those puffy areas at the back of your throat. When I recently had that pretty awful flare (I "think" the Crohns is remissioned at the moment), it happened pretty bad again.

Otherwise, how ARE you? Hope you're getting everything worked out and feeling okay.

My wisdom teeth came in very late in life, in my mid to late 30's, so no correlation with my CD. I still have these pesky tonsils, which often get inflamed.
I developed my first "Classic IBD" flare-up a few moths after suffering from an Epstein Barr infection ( "Mono" or something very like it...). Before, there were vauge indications of something wrong.
BTW, I found recently that one of these blasted Wisdom teeth is still here! But not causing major problems.
