surgery over - results scary and sad

well, the surgery is over. Turns out it's cancer. I'm so scared. I just hope they removed it all. I don't typically ask for prayers but he's only 34 years old and we were just about to start a family. So, please send good thoughts.

his name is justin and we are in portland or. Thank you so much for your prayers. It means so much to us. I am just telling myself that we caught it in time and they removed everything. I just told him the bad news and He is very confused. But just trying to deal with he pain management now. I will let you know. Again, thank you very much for your support... I'm still in awe and totally shocked that my husband actually has (had!?) cancer. I'm just glad we opted for surgery otherwise we wouldn't know!

I'm really sorry about this news..I can't even imagine how shocking it is...but it's good that they found it so if anything needs to be done he can get well. You'll both be in my thoughts. I have faith that you two can pull through this!!!

emrose and justin - I am sorry about the news. However, I am very grateful that they decided to do the surgery and discovered the cancer. I am hopeful that it is early stage.

Healing Well has been very succesful in the prayer department lately. Hopefully we can keep it up! I will be praying with everyone else.

thank you all so much. It brought tears to my eyes to read this thread and all your responses! We just talked to the surgeon. She said the liver, kidneys, and other organs looked good and she's confident she got it all. Next step is to make sure it wasn't in the lymph nodes. She said everything indicated crohns - his age, symptoms, tests, etc and that it was a 99.99% chance that it was crohns and a .01% chance that it was cancer. I never would have thought this would happen! And they think he's been living with cancer for years!! When you look at our wedding photos you would never guess it!

Thank you for letting me vent and share my feelings. This has been a crazy emotional roller coaster and you guys have been a wonderful community of support.

Very sorry to hear that. All of us dread that result as well. How large was the tumor they removed? Good thing you did indeed do the surgery. Next step is staging.  Not seeing any mestastic tumors is a biggie. If its not in the lymphs you're probably good to go.  In the meantime, do whatever you can to help him recover from the nasty, but life saving surgery.
