Well have been in a flare for a while now. Last month was hospitalized with severe pain. My doc did a colanoscopy and found active Chrons and a large ulcer. He told me that my only hope was Remicade. Well 8 days after my first infusion of remicade ended up in the ER with severe join pain in shoulder and then in jaw. They said my white blood count was 18000 (high) was hospitalized. The next day was seen by a rumatoligist and told I had serium sickness (ellergic reaction to the Remicade) Well now seems like sergery is inevitable for me. See my GI Tuesday to know for sure. Well had a resection in 2000 Spent 3 weeks in the hospital. They had to
open me all the way up (27 stiches) and was a rough recovery. Well they say things have improved alot, even sometimes can do the sergery by laproscope. Well my question is, has anyone been able to have it this way, If so how long was the hospital stay, and recovery after? Also for those not so lucky (like me last time) what is the estimated stay these days and after hospital how long to recoved before returning back to work and life? I am ready to get the sergery and get it over with, but because of last one a bit scard. I have such a tolerance to pain meds that after my hysterectomy I was in such pain, they were not able to get the medicine to take away the hurt. This worries ne alot. If I could I would tell the Dr. to keep my under for a while after sergery so I don't wake with the pain. Well any advice???????????????
