anyone have psoriasis popping up all over their body?

My daughter has spots of psoriasis popping up all over her body.  Her head and behind her ears are the worst spots. She was given a topical steroid by the dermatologist.  The gastro dr. wouldn't treat the psoriasis.  She is really anemic, so she just started taking colazol 10 days ago.  She had a reaction to colazal, so we started Asacol on Friday.

Hi I get a nasty thing going on my elbows and knees at times and take a steroid cream for it. One thing that gets it acting up is shampoo on my elbows or putting my knees on carpets. So it might be induced by one of these things or she may be having problems with other things she comes in contact with like baby soap or something. Hope this helps. lol gail

When I was a kid I had really bad excema. Mostly on my face and legs. After getting nowhere with my pediatrician doc, my mom took me to a dematologist. She said it was probably dairy. it was. It went away in weeks. When i got older I could eat dairy again. Just a thought.

Hi, I developed psoriasis as a kid at 13 before my crohn's developed. It was quite bad at times but since I moved to Fla. 30 yrs ago it has been virtually gone as long as I get some sun and occas salt water. But when I started remicade 16 mos ago, the outbreaks started again. I have been on humira now for a year, with just minor skin problems. Maybe your daughter is reacting to the medicine?

i have had intermittent severe scalp issues over the years...to the point where it was almost like chunks of dry dead skin coming off...i wouldn't even get a haircut i was so embarrased.

Yes! I have it..

I have psoriasis for about 6 years now, mine is on my scalp, behind ears and also inverse ( skinfolds)
I just had a ibd 7 prometheous test and doctor told me i didnt have crohns but one of my i believe antiboly IgG levels was high.
Im assuming its high because of the psoriasis and the steroidal medication i take.
I take olux on the scalp and behind the ears. on the skinfolds i use a hydrocostisone/ketoconazole cream.
THe olux stuff works instantly.. its almost scary how it works ( its $395 a bottle )
Another amazing thing that tinglebell, when i go on vacation for 6 weeks to the mediteranean it goes away completely.. just sun and salt.

I get patches of psoriasis in my hairline, behind my ears and back of my neck. I use and OTC 1% steroid cream on it and that seems to work wonders. Once its gone it won't usually come back for a little while but I have to treat it as soon as I notice the raised dry patches or else they turn into large bleeding scabs which spread down onto my face and down my neck.

All I can suggest is using a really mild shampoo as its on the head so it doesn't get too irritated and don't blow dry the hair - I try and let as much of it as possible dry naturally as I find blow drying dries the patches out more and causes more flakes and makes it more irritated and scabby.

Fortunately mines pretty much under control just by observing when its coming up and using the 1% cream when it does. It can be so sore and miserable when its bad, I hope your daughter's clears up soon.

Forgot to mention sunlight is supposed to help psoriasis, give it a google, one of my friends sisters has it really bad and she has light therapy. Whenever its sunny (rare in England lol) or I go on holiday mine will totally clear up.

I have had psoriasis for 18 years....I too use olux...they actually have a generic out now that is not as expensive...I also use FS oil...messy at night but soothing...not a fun skin disease but then again, what disease is?

If you have high levels of ASCA and skin problems, but a Crohn's diagnosis is elusive, you should find a well-educated specialist to investigate the possibility of Behçet's disease. Skin problems are common manifestations, and it can be accompanied by gastrointestinal problems. Higher than normal ASCA levels can indicate Behçet's, but it's ultimately a diagnosis of exclusion. Are you near any good teaching hospitals? If so, I would do some research on what Behçet's is and what the signs and symptoms are, then do some digging to see if any physician familiar with Behçet's can see you.
