New Drug anyone tried it?? Looks promising.

Ustekinumab - Used to treat  psoriasis. It not a TNF blocker but a IL-12 blocker whatever that is. It is still an immunosuperssive but treatment is only 7 injections a year.

The University of Miami has a Clinical trial for Crohns right not. I would go but Im afraid of being placed in the placebo group........

This drug is available in canada and Europe

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

It's been discussed here a few times I think. It does sound promising.

I think Ill enroll in the U of M trial! Im just wondering if these are worse than the TNF blockers?

i hate getting put in placebo groups... but most studies like this pay a nice chunk of cash, so w/e. if i get randomized to placebo, its nothing i havent dealt with before.... except now theres a reward at the end :D

There's a clinical trial being done at Mass General Hospital in Boston too.

This drug is also referred to as ABT-874 - IL 12. It is in clinical trial at Barnes Jewish in St. Louis. I was in it and had very minimal relief. The thing about it is though it is a different type of drug, it is still along the same lines of a TNF blocker, just a stage before. If you have failed Remicade, Humira, or Cimzia, it is actually along the same lines. As much as I hate Tsyabri, it is a completely different drug make-up, so therefore would be more effective.

FWIW, I hardly ever have reactions to drugs, but with ABT-874 - IL 12 - I broke out in skin lesions.

Kaycie, I think ABT is a different drug from Ustekinumab. I know it's hard to keep them all straight!

If it is ABT-874, im in a study for that at Mayo. havent had any problems with it, and its put me into remission with the help of a good diet.
