I failed Humira

Humira is no good for me . I have not tried anything else exept for pred. Based on research I thinking of trying  either Rifaximin or Cimzia or remicade.

 

 

Anyone have suggestions.

Is there no maintenance medication you can take like pentasa or asacol? Sometimes certain medications just aren't enough by themselves...

Remicade had me in remission for two years before I lost the response. Then I failed Humira. Now trying Cimzia, but only at week 3 so it's hard to tell. I also re-started Xifaxan tonight. (That's the brand name for rifaximin.) I took it previously for a couple of months and it seemed to help. Why not start both?

It's hard to fail a drug, I totally am with you on that one. Just remember there are new options all the time. And, as much as we hate them, steroids can help us through a tough spot. Hang in there!

Spifficial, yes, you can lose response to Remicade while taking it.  I had good results on it for a year or so, then started losing response.  We increased the frequency of the doses, which maybe helped for a while, and then I started losing response again.  Then, I started having allergic reactions to it and had to stop anyway.  I'm opposite of most people in that I took Cimzia before Humira (by being in a clinical trial for Cimzia).  When the trial ended, we decided to try Humira instead to see if it helped more with the arthritis, but I don't know that Humira works any better than the Cimzia in that regard.  Both Cimzia and Humira have kept my Crohn's in remission.
