Hi friends,

I haven't posted in ages since my Crohn's disease has been in remission, but I am wondering if any of you have multiple sclerosis as well?  I have been diagnosed with probable MS from a wonderful group of doctors at Johns Hopkins and am going back this month for 3 more tests.  My MRI showed evidence of 9 abnormal lesions and I've been having the classic symptoms: blurred vision, dizziness, numbness/tingling, sensation issues, weak muscles, etc...I also have a Vitamin B-12 deficiency that can cause these symptoms.  Do any of you suffer from both, and if so, how do you function?

Hi Vandygrad! No I do not have MS but my mom has Devic's Disease. It is easily confused with MS. If your doctors think that you have optic neuritis, are you being tested for the NMO antibody? They take spinal fluid and send it to the Mayo clinic to be tested. Please make sure that they do this test. The treatments for MS and Devic's are completely different. And some of the medications for Crohn's and Devics are the same. Your symptoms sounds a lot like my mom's. Please check it out!

I am not sure if they are related but are both autoimmune diseases. I don't know much about MS but I do know quite a bit about Devic's. Imuran and Methotrexate are both used in either case.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 1997 and was on Pentasa for about two years. I was diagnosed with MS (no spinal tap, MRI) in 2006 and have been fighting both diseases since then.
The stress of my wife leaving me (three months after diagnosis) the loss of my family and everything I had worked for my whole life, my mother and my brother battling Cancer, along with the stresses of my job has almost been too much.
By the grace of God, so go I.

Dealing with an auto-immune condition is tough, but it also becomes more difficult when it advances into another form. We all must fight the good fight.
