k I am in the the hosp for a resection I had on 3-10 right now I am on 2mg diaudid IV push every 2 hours and it barley touches me,
we just did tylenol 3 and they did nothing I need Ideas on what oral meds may work???? I need help???

you can get oral dilaudid.... maybe you could try that?? Wish I could suggest more. HUGS!!

I've never been hospitalized for my crohns so I can't really be of any help. I just wanted you to know I read this and hope you feel better soon.

rfinn diauid is pretty strong. If your hook up to an IV drip just press you little button a little more til it starts working. Maybe ask for Fentyl IV or Morphine IV all of which I had at the hospital

After I had my resection, morphine alone did not touch my pain. I was actually given morphine, then dilaudid (sp?) on top of that. It actually worked. don't know if your dr's will approve this because they told me it is rare they allow so much pain drugs at once? "I was yelling I want to die" so maybe that had something to do with it? LOL . I hope you feel better!

As far as oral meds, finn, you might ask for a Tramadol/Ultram? They aren't heavy opiods like darvocets I don't think, but for some reason they always help pain that morphine and others can't touch for me.

Hi Hope by now you have some relief I had a epidermal in which had kept me comfortable , let us know if things have improved.. what about a injection for pain relief.. lol gail

When they wanted me off the Dilaudid they put me on Peroset. I took 2 tabs every 3-4 hours. I am a little concerned though that you are still having such major pain almost a week since your surgery. I went home about day 10 after both my resections (had infection in incision both times) and each time I went home on Percoset and it handled things well. Do the docs know why you are still having such intense pain? Possibly an infection? Hope you get feeling better soon and your resection brings you to a long long remission.

I do not know what to tell you, except I have use morphine IVs (oral meds are not really effective for me as I pass them before they break down or I throw them back up. Concerned about you. Please take care.

I am going to talk to them today about getting my JP drain out and trying 4-6mg of oral dilaudid let me try it see if it works if not I am going to ask for a consult with a pain doc. they have a pain clinic here sos maybe I need to get them evolved

Dilaudid is about as strong as you can get. The pain docs I have seen will not mess with it period, but maybe you will find something, fentanyl perhaps, the little patch you wear, worked well for me at one time. I have good luck with morphine sulfate, it's readily available, inexpensive, has a good long track record, and comes in oral, iv, suppository...

Definately get involved with the pain clinic, they are you best chance at help.
