Peri-rectal crohns

Hi does anyone out there know of a remedy for excessive mucous (slimy jelly like substance) being excreted from bottom.  Have a stoma (colostomy) but seriously high amounts of this mucous being produced and excreted.  Burns like crazy and have to have dressing on wound cleaned daily to stop discomfort.  Thanks

25 year old male.

Severe peri-anal crohns - just diagnosed.

Had "temporary" colostomy which now might be permanent

Large open wound on b-tt.

On 150mg Imuran, Cipro and Flagyl.

Recommded Revelex (Remicade) within next few weeks.

 

I have the same thing you do and there is nothing, at least from what I have found. I have been draining the mucus for a year and a half. I wear pads every day and have had six surgeries. The pain will probally get better mine is just a nusance except for when it gets blocked or right after a surgery. If you find a way to stop it let me know.

The mucous should actually clear up evtentually. Your Rectum, will still create the mucous that it did prior to your ostomy, just before youd didnt notice because it was excreted through your BM's. The easiest way I found to deal with it is depending on how often you get the 'urge' to just sit on the toilet and proceed as if having a bowel movement.

Depending on your situation is when I feel someone should go to the ostomy forum. i mean obviously those of us with an ostomy and Crohns are on the Crohns forum first in most cases. And I dont feel most people on the ostomy forum can relate to Crohns, there are many reasons for an ostomy...
