Hi Folks:

Just got back from my GI and I'm now CD confirmed! GI prescribed 3.6 g Lialda. The symptoms I have are bloody stools and gas. Look forward to interacting with my new friends here. Better get back to work!

Sorry about the news, but glad you have a diagnosis. Welcome to the club. You will find that this is a caring community for those of us with this disese.

Thanks for your kind words. Since you are a CD-veteran, could you please answer the following?

1) in your estimate, what are the few things that has helped you manage this disease?

2) how often do you see your doctors? have you had to change your doctors over the years?

3) how have you managed work-life-family balance?

As newly diagnosed, I've many questions and ideas. Just want to get some expert ideas.

Welcome to healingwell rummy! Sorry to hear you have this darn dx, but glad you found us.
I am not belleenstein, but I think I might be able to answer some your questions...
1. finding foods that are safe for you (mine is mash potatoes) to eat at anytime
2. I see my GI every month, and a np every week (but I have a pretty severe case) usually I think it is every 3-6 months.
I went thru 7 GI's before I found one that I felt was a good match for me (I am sure the rest were adaquate, but just not matches or just not in a good location, or not in the VA system).
3. still figuring that out myself...:)

rolleyes  So sorry to hear your news are you young i was 13 when i found out now 35 so i consider myself a vetern also anly because i have been sick so long but your lucky that you found out now instead of on your way to the operating room i dont mean to scare you but that is how it happened to me so if you have any questions regarding doctors find one you can trust and is smart i went through a few i had a great 1 he retired now i have a women which i like more i find them more undrestanding (sorry guys but you know what i am saying) turn i know your likely scared but this is a great site i just joined myself not long ago its great.I hope your family is really understanding and your friends if not were always here dont be afraid to ask any questions and alot of people post there e-mail address mine is posted on my site but in here i am onthecan. I hope these words reach you and please dont be afraid to ask questions that is the only way to get true answers. Your bowel buddy Jenn yeah

Just wanted to through my two cents in. I agree with MMMNAVY about finding foods you can eat all the time even during bad times. Mine is eggs and carnation instant breakfasts. I've been with the same GI for four years and am getting ready to switch. Seems like a never ending battle. But the bright side is, a lot of us have great lives. Sure we fight our insides a lot, but if you have a good attitude, life can still be awesome. I have a new little boy that is the light of my life and I still hunt, fish, camp, everything, just hard to schedule sometimes. Good luck, and my absolute best advice is you are you're own best doctor. Make sure you get tests when you feel like you need them!!
