Anyone fell their Humira shots are not consistent?

I swear sometimes I can really feel it after a shot in terms of feeling better, tired etc and other times it seems like nothing happened. I usually take it every week, but skipped a week a couple of weeks ago due to an infection. Took my shot this Sat. for second week in a row and flared that night and lots of prednisone is not making me feel much better. Fell like it was a bad shot and maybe should take another one now and not wait till saturday. This has happened to me before about feeling the shots are not always consistent.

nono  Hi Jack i wouldnt take another dose until your next one is due i only take mine every two weeks and i havent been onit that long to make any judgement yet but i have huge welts from them i do get very tired but it could be the fibro or the PA i am not sure but i took my dose yesterday and slept good i dont often smhair do you have a plan to follow for your dosing or is it just once a week and do you use the pen or the needle i used the neddle for the methotraxate and IV for the Remicade and the pen for my Humira how about you? Have you had crohns long? I am from Nova Scotia its so cold down here right now we just had another snow storm that is 2 this week some spring shakehead i wont break out the shorts any time soon. Are you from canada or the USA did you ever watch the trailor park boys on show case everyone thinks that is how we live down here its funny i grew up with bubbles AKA (Mike Smith) his family lived next door to my family he is on tour now got his own bar and he is always there thats in Halifax maybe you have no idea who i am talking about. I was on the humira study for about 100 weekly dosages. sometimes i'd skip a week. for me, it didn't make a difference because compared to all of the other drugs out there, humira is pretty mild. but that was just me. i didn't like humira as it didn't help me that much. why stay on it for 100 weeks? well, it was better than just pred... but i couldn't get off of the pred while on it.

Hi jid and onthecan. The Humira has worked pretty good for me, getting me down from 28 to 30 mgs of Prednisone to just 1 mg a day. If I was not able to reduce the Pred on it, I would definitly not take it. Although I absorb some steroids from the topical creams I apply occasionally to control the psoriasis it causes, but to a far lesser degree than the Remicade did. Think I am going to take some more today as have been on 20 to 40 mgs of Prednisone for last 3 or 4 days without calming down and do not want to have to get into a long weaning process again. And if it works then I guess I will know if it was a bad dose this weekend. The last package I picked up had been at the Pharmacy for a few days before they called me and the iced packs in it had melted and it was not real cold. Still have one from shipment before then. Humira hotline could not tell me how long it takes to go bad as they said they never tested it. I am from USA not Canada.

I've been on Humira since June or July of last year and have often noticed that they seem to be inconsistent in how they work.  I inject every 2 weeks and have never missed a dose.  Some injections really seem to work and some don't seem to do anything.  Cimzia always seemed to work, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I just started Humira two weeks ago. Just took my second dose this week. I noticed an improvement from the first dose. I had some nausea from this second dose, but no other side affects so far. Still too soon to offer much. I will start paying more attention now.

Hi Jack sorry for me taking so long to get back to you i just got out of the hospital yesterday i had another bowel obstuction i wouldnt let them put down the NG tube which they claim it doesnt hurt and it only takes a second (well let me tell you they do hurt and when there going down i feel like i am going to stop breathing and i cant swollow that tube,had many NG tubes in the past)They put me on IV steriods and now at home i am suppose to be on predisone(AKA MOON-FACE) and i refuse to take it i would normally do anything to help myself but these drugs only did more damage then good i got arthritis so bad and i blame all the steriods and most of my doctors will agree with me i also have fibro an other painfull problem any ways i am doing some what better my bowel finally started working on its own yesterday with the help of no food by mouth with the excepition of JELLO which i am sure all of us have grown to hate it was going on 9 days since my bowel worked my belly was so big and so sore but that is the norm for me i get alot of bowel obstructions and alot of NG tubes so now there thinking of bumping up my Humira to once a week instead of every second week and increasing the dose now i am on 40 i think,so i still am not seeing alot of progress from this new med i will hang in there and with alot of praying and pleading with the doctors maybe this is the one for me i hope so cause i tried so many Remicade twice and Methtraxate with no help just bad side effects.So were are you located in this big world Jack,i live in the smallest town every i think in nova scotia and i am a dot on that as well,so it was really nice hearing from you thank you fro your kind words and i am glad to hear thatthings are going a little better for you,you would think that your Humira should have still been on ice when you went to get it i know mine always is anyway. smurf BEST OF LUCK TO YOU I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.your bowel buddy Jenn. cool

I have noticed the inconsistency too. Call me crazy, but I wonder how the injections have been handled at various points en route before they reach us. I have seen pharmacists take Humira out of the fridge, and then leave it at room temperature for extended periods (!!), and it wouldn't surprise me if that happened during transportation too.

In other words, I don't think we can guarantee that the Humira is at full potency by the time it reaches us, especially if we then leave it out to let it warm before injecting. Having seen the antics of the pharmacists, I try not to leave the injection out for more than a few minutes: I'd rather put up with the pain on injecting, than get a dramatically weakened drug and be sick for the rest of the fortnight.
