Does anyone ever take Ibuprofen? (Pain pill suggestions, please.....)

I know we are not supposed to take Ibuprofen or any other NSAID.  I only take Tylenol.  But, between the Crohn's and Fibromyalgia flaring, plus hemmorhoids/anal fissure, I am in so much pain, especially my legs.  The Tylenol just isn't cutting it.  I am so tempted to take two Advil, because the pain is driving me bonkers!! shakehead

I cannot tolerate narcotic pain meds.  I am extremely sensitive to the side effects.  Does anyone have any recommendations on a pain pill with minimal side effects?  Has anyone taken Ibuprofen temporarily with success?

I take Alieve when needed. I told my GI that the remicade wears off too early and Tylenol doesnt help so I said to heck with it and take ALieve sometimes. It works wonders for me. He didnt tell me not to take although I know he's rather I didnt. They dont want you too because it can cause irritation in your digestive track but it doesnt bother me, it just works!

Tramadol is by prescription in the US. I think you can get it over the counter in some countries but I'm not sure. It doesn't really work for me, but it works great for a lot of people. You would need to ask your doctor to Rx it. When my joints are really bad and I can't sleep because they are too sore to lie on, I will resort to Aleve. Because it is longer acting, I can take less, and sleep longer. I know that I can't take it long term, but on the occasional night that I really need it, it works. It actually works better for my joint pain than my narcotic pain relievers.

I do not use Ibruprofen at all as it really upsets my stomach alot.  But on occasion when I have had a really bad headache and my pain meds didn't help, I will take an Aleve.  But I do so on a rare occasion only.  Ibruprofen and Aleve caused my flare that brought me out of remission after my 20 year remission.  I think it is ok once in awhile, but not on a daily basis. JMHO

I do know some people take Tramadol with alot of success without all the drowsiness side effects, but I can't use this one for myself as I have a very delicate stomach and it upsets it.  But some folks have alot of success with it.  Good luck and gentle hugs.

The only pain med, besides my vicodin, that works is Advil or Motrin. I have never had a problem with either of them, and I always take with some food. Tylenol is a joke, I don't even bother.

I would only take Ibuprofin if I was in the mood for a major intestinal hemorrhage. For bad pain I use tylenol #3.

I have taken ibuprofin twice for a short period of time and ONLY if I am not in a flare. I am taking it now because of dental surgery.
