fat/cut up tongue feeling

OK I am crazy busy lately with baking, traveling across country for work and NOW it's hockey playoff time (Go Montreal).  I am really anemic and it showed when I tried to run through the airport---see me doubled over sucking wind just as my plane was final boarding.

So I know that being low on B12 makes your tongue feel "fat", but how about low on iron?  I took my B12 so I should be OK there.  My tongue feels so ripped up and swollen.

Any ideas gang?

Habs, I haven't had this symptom but I have had sore spots on my tongue, usually with a flare. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Would you describe it as burning tongue/mouth cuz a condition called burning mouth syndrome or stomatopyrosis, which usually appears in women after menopause. This condition is poorly understood, and it represents many different conditions that have the same symptoms. Burning is usually located on tongue, and it’s sometimes related to Candida. There are some other possible causes, such as ill-fitting dentures, allergies to dental materials, mouth rinses and sprays and certain foods and food additives. Burning on tongue can also be caused by deficiency of certain vitamins, such as folic acid and B-complex. Beside tongue, lips and roof of the mouth can be affected too. Burning mouth syndrome is not easy to treat. You should drink water frequently and chew sugar-free gums, because it could help your mouth moist. Either way maybe get it checked out cuz you know with having CD it can affect any part of your GI tract which includes your mouth.

Feel better soon, it must be awful to feel that sensation.

Think that problem with your tongue may come from bitting it when the people at the airport ask if anyone put anything in your bag without your knowledge. "Oh yes, "you would say, were your tongue not clasped tightly in your teeth,,,"people put things in my luggage all the time that I know nothing about !!" BUT, sense I know nothing about it, I dont know!!!!" Did you pack your own bag ? "Ohhhhhh noooooooo,,,,Again the teeth clamp down,,, the Tooth Fairy packs my bag for me all the time " . Do you have anything flammable or any explosives ? " Wellllll ,,,lets see now,, except for my temper from these @#%$& questions,,,,Nooooooo. unless you count the 50 gallon barrel of TNT I carry in my hip pocket on every flight !!!!" Thats enough tongue bitting to make it raw and swollen. And then there's the on board meal,,,,,,,,,,,Eye ye yiiiii .
Trust me, I set the metal detector off due to heart surgery ,wire, and a few metal objects that cant be removed from my body, and even though I explain before it happens , they still treat me like a criminal.

smhair     I am experiencing the same thing right now.  My tongue feels like it is swollen adn the edges are cut.  I have found that this happens to me when i may be entering a flare or if I am greatly stressed.  I may awaken with a swollen tongue, then when I eat it gets in my way and then I notice the large taste buds that hurt.  For me it usually alleviates itself in a couple days.  If it doesn't I would seek a doctor's opinion.

Maybe try a tsp of extra virgine olive oil (google it for info on the benefits of it) I eat it everday and also use it as a daily moisturizer (not from the same bottle though LOL)...it's pretty amazing stuff, if you have a bruise rub it on the bruise and see how quickly it gets rid of it.

The soreness sounds like mouth ulcers from crohn's inflammation in the mouth. I get it all the time. Try "Oracort" (prescription required). It's a steroid paste for the mouth and works great.
